John FrankenKerry just now decided that enough people thought he should apologize, so he finally did so.
Mind you, he really didn't want to apologize; if he felt sincerely about apologizing he would have immediately done it, instead of insisting incredulously that Bush should apologize to the troops. (How wacky is that?!)
Hopefully this whole thing would remind people of how dangerous and foolish it would be to put Democrats back in charge, many of whom hate and ridicule the military. Remember, it was John "Swift Boat" Kerry who said that U.S. troops were "terrorizing" Iraqi famillies in the middle of the night.

Comment by justxploring - November 2, 2006, 7:02 amAgain here we are reading choice words used to make a point or slander others. Kerry served in the military and was in Viet Nam, so how can anyone believe he meant that soldiers are stupid?
From the comments here, one would assume Kerry insulted the troops and then apologized. He did no such thing. He was obviously attempting to criticize President Bush. "If anyone owes our troops in the fields an apology, it is the president," Kerry said. This makes perfect sense to me. When you misrepresent intelligence reports, lie to the American people and mislead brave men & women into fighting a losing battle for your own gain, you should not only apologize to them and their families, but ask the entire world for forgiveness.

Liberals widely have intense disrespect for the military, which even strays into hatred. It's not just Kerry, but many liberals. They look down upon those who enter the military, as if they either has the choice of flipping burgers or joining the military. They're just a bunch of dumb-butts, very similar to how conservatives (who support the military) are dumb-butts. (See my previous blog entries and comments on Konane's blog for more details on that concept.)

No, I don't think Kerry intended to come out in his speech and insult the military. In fact, if he immediately fell on his sword and apologized to everyone and said his slipped up, this whole thing would not have happened. But instead he chose to do the unthinkable, and actually blame George Bush (!) for his gaffe, and said that BUSH should apologize!
So, Kerry directly insulted everyone serving in Iraq, and Bush should apologize. If even Hillary Clinton can see how wacky that is, I think you can too.

Comment by Todd - November 2, 2006, 8:29 amBy the way, I saw a report last night that included clips of all the dinosaur media reports on the Kerry gaffe -- from CBS, NBC, ABC, and CNN. They all universally proclaimed that it was much to-do about nothing, and the CNN guy even said that he hoped something else would come up so that this would no longer be talked about.
These are HARD NEWS people, and they are hoping the story will die quickly. That is something that political analysts can get away with, but hard news reporters? Can you imagine what they would be saying if Rush Limbaugh (for example) said these things? They would not stop talking about it, and it would lead every news cycle until the election!
Of all of them, I think Katie Couric is the most overtly rooting for the liberals -- you should have seen her facial reaction when she was forced to report the story.
Every year the dinosaur media becomes less and less objective, and more openly cheers for the Democrats to win. I have gotten to the point where I can't open the newspaper because it is too upsetting to see the propaganda every single day. I can't wait for this election to be over with. God help us all if the liberals take over. If they do, I think it's time to move away from potential blast zones. I'm only half-joking.

However, it is also quite clear that Sen. John F. Kerry (D-MA, 100%) said exactly what he meant to say. The reason he resisted apologizing for so long is that the "joke" was just what he said: if you don't study, you'll end up stuck in Iraq, as one of those lazy, dumb soldiers.
The opening is a series of three jokes, of which this is the third: but he says it smoothly, not stumbling; he does indeed have a smirk as he says it; and the audience laughs. There is nothing whatsoever to indicate, in even the faintest degree, that he meant to say "you end up getting us stuck in Iraq," referring to that lazy, dumb President Bush (who got at least a good a GPA at Yale and Harvard as did Kerry). Not at all.
This ends the discussion as far as I'm concerned. He was mocking the troops for being lazy and stupid; end of story, so far as this lizard is concerned."

Sounds like a text book CYA still placing the blame for "misinterpreting" on the person who heard his statement. It should have been an apology for HIS wrong choice of words which conveyed something he didn't intend. CYA all the way to the edge of the universe and IMHO someone or several of his own cadre demanded he do it or else.
