Jon, that's because the computer picks these people are winning from-which is what is happening most of the time there are 5 and 0 winners- are numbers spit out of the computer just before the winning numbers were picked. It's a spin. 1,2,3....   If you could compare all of the pick 5 winners' tickets side by side, you would notice how the machine works for the winning numbers. But I doubt anyone will be able to do that. I know I can't. I just know what is happening. When they decide to let a winner come through, the lucky sucker that bought that ticket will win. And all the people that purchased their tickets in the same time frame (I'm talking nanoseconds of each other) will get the 5 and 0 winners. Most think this is at the very end of the night, just before the draw takes place, so they wait until the last minute to purchase their tickets. But it isn't the case. It is whenever the good ol' boys running the thing decide it is. That's why you will hear of some winners being purchased anywhere from a few days prior to the draw to the last hour of the night of the draw. Now, I'm not saying there aren't people who pick the winning numbers on their own. It just doesn't happen that often., they say, because the majority of people purchase qp's.
