Comments for "How's this for "Transparency in Government"?"
May 5, 2009, 3:18 pmHow's this for "Transparency in Government"?
I wonder what happened to the president's promise to bring a new "transparency in government"?
"Transparency" is supposed to mean that the public can see what's happening on the "inside".
Um... that's what "transparent" means.
Here's just the latest example of the complete LACK of transparency that has descended on Washington:

The $328,835 snapshots of an Air Force One backup plane buzzing lower Manhattan last week will not be shown to the public, the White House said yesterday.
"We have no plans to release them," an aide to President Obama told The Post, refusing to comment further.
The sole purpose of the secret photo-op, which sent thousands of New Yorkers running for cover, was to take new publicity shots of the presidential jet over the city.
"The photos . . . are classified -- that's ridiculous," Councilman Peter Vallone Jr., said.
The photos have not technically been "classified," a White House aide said, but they are being kept from public view.
New Yorkers said they could not understand how a president who shares intimate snapshots from the White House could justify keeping these secret.
"So we're not gonna see the fruits of this cruel joke?" said Frank Antonelli, 39, one of the Wall Street traders spooked by last week's flyover.
"I'm not surprised. Obama . . . wouldn't further all the bad publicity by putting out those pictures."

Comment by jarasan - May 5, 2009, 3:42 pmI'd rather have Rod Blagoevitch as POTUS than PUPPETOTUSPOS, at least Blago doesn't need a teleprompter.
Oh yeah, PUPPETOTUSPOS and Joey B. Pinhead went to lunch out in Arlington VA. today, according to MSNBCPOS the recession is over!, (since they left the WH for lunch). That little excursion into nearby Arlington probably cost the taxpayers well over 20K! They shoulda stayed at he WH and had KOBE burgers and saved the taxpayers $19.5 K
Forget the stupid ill conceived lame flyover, we'll never see the photos of that joy ride.
Transparency has been defined already by this administration as a lead wall.

Comment by jarasan - May 6, 2009, 6:49 amBut the angering thing about this whole "transparency" nonsense (another case of the president saying the exact opposite of his true intentions, such as the infamous "I want smaller government" line he repeats often) is that transparency is supposed to show both the good AND the bad. Transparency does not mean "we'll show you details of stuff we think went well". It means "you get to see EVERYTHING -- warts and all."
Comment by jarasan - May 6, 2009, 10:28 amI'm starting to think there are no pictures, and this was a joy-ride. If GW had done this, the outrage would be huge on all the networks.
If there are pics. they won't release them because it would be permanent record that they actually did this and they couldn't make it disappear.
Right now the propaganda machine of the White House is pretending it never happened and waiting for it to go away........................if there is no evidence, "it didn't happen".................what me worry? Proof again that the executive branch isn't about substance, but about image.
Look very closely at this watch, you are getting sleepy, very sleepy, you are falling into a deep deep deep sleep, now I want you to repeat after me, there is no stealing of taxpayer dollars, there is no socializing of America, there is no redistricting to permanently entrench the FASCIODEMS, now dance like a chicken.
