Comment by Todd - September 11, 2009, 6:19 pmS/PDif is an optical cable. They are the same thing. The two other ways you can have a digital connection is a coax connection (RCA plug) and HDMI.
HDMI is the best, because it can pass the highest resolution images and audio in a single cable, and then I personally think coax is next best for audio, followed by optical. If I have a choice between optical and coax, I always go coax.
I like Pioneer receivers and Atlantic Technology speakers.

Comment by sysp34 - September 11, 2009, 7:53 pmops.. i see just found some source about hometheater http://www.hometheaternetwork.com and there are several audio connection Digital Coaxial (RCA), Optical (TOSLINK), HDMI, i.Link, S/PDIF (RCA), Analog Audio (RCA)
when talking about RCA plug my mind always go for $.15 cent RCA cable a mini stereo cable lol i dunno if there are a lot of audio cable, i agree HDMI is the best follow by Digital Coaxial (RCA) and Optical (TOSLINK) it seem Optical "left" by audio lover because "extra processing steps involved in converting current to light and then light to current. These two steps can add another source of error into the audio signal. lose their signal strength in bent cables" but when i look the signal http://www.hometheaternetwork.com/pics/EMI_cables_length.jpg it seem coax is the best choice rather than digital
