They don't want *everyone* to win and they have managed to convince a loyal following of useful idiots that their "solution" is the only one viable. Meanwhile, you can find any number of vids and news articles demonstrating people taking areas given up as barren and now re-growing plenty of food, providing building materials, and creating employment; vids and articles that you won't see on the nightly "news", of course.
