The rail option, though costlier, would lessen the environmental impact, such as a loss of wetlands and agricultural productivity, compared to the pipeline, according to the State Department analysis. Greenhouse gas emissions, however, would be worse.
Guess who it's going to be "costlier" to. But, at least no insects and spotted owls will be inconvenienced.

Comment by JAP69 - January 25, 2012, 6:24 pmWhat happens when they have a major derailment with numerous rail cars bursting open spilling the crude that has been cut to liquify it more. Catches fire a lot of cars not burst open could heat expand and burst too.

Comment by time*treat - January 25, 2012, 7:42 pm@JAP69, one of the first things I thought about when reading this was the possibility of a derailment. Who knows, maybe Silverstein .. er .. I mean .. Buffett has insurance for such an event, as they're in that business, too.
