Must be you would prefer a dictator led society.
Try living in China, North Korea and see how that works out.
How about islamic rule? They keep their population in line the old fashioned way. Follow the supreme rule or get seberely punished or executed. I could pull up some vids on how they keep their population in line. Not very pretty.
