because the earth is not a solid object.
most land mass will rise as water puts pressure on the ocean floor.
what will happen though is more earthquakes and possibly more volcanic activity as the molten goo puts on more pressure from under the land mass.
think of the land mass like an iceberg floating on the molten goo.
