June 5, 2006, 4:39 pmThe Pledge of Allegiance -- Explained

I'm not sure how long this file will be "up", so check it out while you can.

The performance is by Red Skelton, who (for those who don't know) was a movie star and comedian on television back in the 1950s.  He created a number of characters and his show was watched by millions.  He did this on his show one evening, back when shows were live.

Who could have known that all these years later it would be so important for everyone to hear someone explain in very simple terms what it's all about.

I grew up watching Red Skelton. A truly great performer as Clem Kaddiddlehopper, Freddie the Freeloader etc and a very patriotic person. Oh yea and as those seagulls Gertrude and Heathcliff. Johnny Carson started here as one of his writers.

Good Night and "God Bless".
