The Pennsylvania Lottery's latest game is the 5-digit numbers game, Quinto.
Quinto offers 13 ways to play and win. When players match all five digits straight, they win $50,000 cash.
Rather than replacing an existing game, Quinto is an additional game to the lottery's line-up. Drawings will be held both at midday and evening, seven days a week.
The price of a Pennsylvania Quinto ticket is $1 per play. A ticket will contain one play but a ticket can be purchased for multiple drawing dates (draws).
The new game is played similar to Pick 3 and Pick 4 games, except with Quinto there are 5 positions for the numbers 0 through 9.
For a $1 purchase, the player can purchase a ticket and play Straight, Front 4, Back 4, Front 3, Back 3, Front Pair, Back Pair or Box, as follows:
- A ticket for a Straight or Box play will contain five numbers, each ranging from 0 to 9.
- A ticket for a Front 4, Front 3 or Front Pair will contain the numbers selected by the player or through the Quick Pick option. Asterisks will follow the numbers so that a combination of numbers and asterisks, totaling five characters, will appear on the ticket.
- A ticket for a Back 4, Back 3 or Back Pair will contain the numbers selected by the player or through the Quick Pick option. Asterisks will precede the numbers so that a combination of numbers and asterisks, totaling five characters, will appear on the ticket.
Depending on the numbers appearing on a box ticket, the Box play will be a 5, 10, 20, 30, 60 or 120-way box type of play.
A Straight type play is won when the ticket matches all five numbers in the same position (order) in which they were selected by the Lottery. Winners of a Straight prize will receive $50,000.
A Box win is achieved when the player matches all five numbers, but not in the order drawn by the lottery. The prize amount is based on the difficulty (odds) of the number combination on the winning ticket. The most difficult Box combination to win is when four out of the five numbers on the ticket are the same, with just one different number.
For example, 3-3-3-3-9. It is the most difficult to win because there are only five ways to win a prize (in this case, with the "9" in one of the five positions.)
The "easiest" Box win is where every digit is different, because there are 150 different ways to match the numbers drawn. For example, 3-9-0-7-5.
The Box prizes are paid as follows:
- 5-way Box (e.g., 3-3-3-3-9) wins $10,000.
- 10-way Box (e.g., 3-3-3-9-9) wins $5,000.
- 20-way Box (e.g., 3-3-3-9-0) wins $2,500.
- 30-way Box (e.g., 3-3-9-9-0) wins $1,700.
- 60-way Box (e.g., 3-3-9-0-7) wins $850.
- 120-way Box (e.g., 3-9-0-7-5) wins $425.
Other types of play and prizes include:
- Front 4: select only the first four numbers, must match the first four numbers in Straight (exact) order drawn (e.g., 3-9-0-7-*), wins $5,000.
- Back 4: select only the last four numbers, must match the last four numbers in Straight (exact) order drawn (e.g., *-9-0-7-5), wins $5,000.
- Front 3: select only the first three numbers, must match the first three numbers in Straight (exact) order drawn (e.g., 3-9-0-*-*), wins $500.
- Back 3: select only the last three numbers, must match the last three numbers in Straight (exact) order drawn (e.g., *-*-0-7-5), wins $500.
- Front Pair: select only the first two numbers, must match the first two numbers in Straight (exact) order drawn (e.g., 3-9-*-*-*), wins $50.
- Back Pair: select only the last two numbers, must match the last two numbers in Straight (exact) order drawn (e.g., *-*-*-7-5), wins $50.
All Pennsylvania Quinto prize payments are made as a one-time, lump-sum cash payment.
