Improved the ability to search Private Messages on the Search page. Searches now ignore hidden formatting tags when conducting the search, in order to eliminate false matches. Searches are speedier when searching Private Messages. Also, added Sent Items to the searched content for Gold and Platinum members. Previously, the Search page only searched the Inbox and any folders the member had setup. Now the Sent Items are searched in additional to all the previous search locations. A checkbox was added to optionally revert to the previous functionality, by ignoring Sent Items in the search. (Checkbox only appears for Gold and Platinum members.) Added a cleanup trigger to the Rich Text Editor, which automatically strips useless links from a post that contains Photobucket images. Some new members' posts were being flagged for spam when they included a Photobucket image wrapped with a useless link.

Fixed problem with Log In page when used on an iPhone or iPod Touch. The Log In page would immediately transfer to the browser compatibility test page, never giving an opportunity to properly log in. (iPhone and iPod Touch users should also be sure they are using the latest software version, which currently is 1.1.4.)

Fixed a display issue and improved the click behavior of the paging control used in the forums, fixed minor display issue with tables displaying in non-IE browsers, where the left and right of the table would be misaligned by 1-2 pixels, added new help content to the Browser Compatibility Test page as well as links to the download pages for all four supported browsers, fixed minor display issue in non-IE browsers on the Active Topics page, which displayed a thin line under forum titles and had an inconsistent mouse-over display, fixed miscellaneous display issues the occurred when using the Opera browser, improvements to scripts used to prepare tables with alternating row colors.

Updated the browser tests on the Browser Compatibility Test page to reflect changes in supported web browsers at Lottery Post. Previously, Lottery Post officially supported IE7 and Firefox, and now the list of officially supported Web browsers has expanded to IE7, Firefox, Opera, and Safari. Updated several parts of the site, including: forum topics and news stories have better page titles, performance increases, fixed bug with Opera browser on topic pages which kept it from scrolling down to the latest post, fixed minor issues with popup windows, fixed log off bug, which continued showing a member as "online" in the forums after log off, reinstated the ieSpell download to occur directly from Lottery Post, avoiding a visit to the author's web site, fixed minor issues with Active Users page and decreased load time for the page.

Cleaned up the forum database, to remove many "junk" messages that were posted before Lottery Post's more sophisticated post filter was implemented. Today, the filter keeps such messages from appearing at all. All of the junk messages appeared as completely empty posts, so no usable content has been removed.

Joined the Save The Developers campaign to encourage IE5 and IE6 users to upgrade their web browsers. The faster we can get people off IE6 the better it is for them, and the Web in general. A drop-down graphic appears in IE5 and IE6 browsers allowing the user to find out more information.

Lottery Post now has an Extended Validation (EV) SSL certificate, which is the highest form of security currently available for web transactions. The EV certificate changes the color of the Address (Location) line green when the certificate is active, in compatible Web browsers. Currently, Internet Explorer 7 is the only mainstream browser that comes with support built-in, but support for EV can be added as a plugin to Firefox, and will be available in Firefox 3.

Fixed bug that prevented iPhone and iPod Touch users from navigating through the main Lottery Post site. (Bug was introduced in last update.) Also, the Home link at the top of the left navigation area will take iPhone and iPod Touch users back to the Lottery Post iPhone Edition, not back to the regular Lottery Post home page. Before adding this link, iPhone users had no way to return to the iPhone Edition once they navigated to the main site.

Launched new iPhone / iPod Touch edition of Lottery Post. The new edition is built especially for the Apple iPhone and iPod Touch, and launched with two main features: lottery results and quick picks. The interface is designed for easily adding new features in the future. iPhone and iPod Touch users are brought directly to the new edition when they come to Lottery Post, and have the option of navigating to the main site. Also implemented in this release are several bug fixes and performance improvements for the main Lottery Post site.

Fixed small glitch that listed some games in the wrong order on state results pages. Fix bug that prevented special drawings from appearing after the last site update. Updated pager control on vTracs results history pages. Fixed bug that corrupted the display in Lucky's Followers System after the last site update. Continued making performance improvements - one example is the state lottery results pages, which now can typically be generated within 6-one thousandths of a second.

Installed a web site update that touches many pages. New Worldwide Jackpots page offers faster performance, a simpler link (and sorting links), dual currencies (currently for Euro Millions, will expand to others), and guests can now view the page. Cookies have again been tightened up to consume less bandwidth. Redundant links have been consolidated, so that instead of multiple links pointing to the same material, all links to a page (but one) will re-direct to the one correct link, making site organization more efficient and easy to understand. Fixed quirky menu display and behavior in certain web browsers, such as Opera. Improved menu behavior in Safari, but the menu in Safari 3.0 stills runs off the right side of the page by about 10 pixles, causing a horizontal scroll bar to appear at the bottom of the page. This will be fixed during the next major site upgrade, which is scheduled to take place within the next 1-2 weeks.

Upgraded site to Microsoft's latest .NET library version (.NET 3.5). Made substantial performance improvements, mainly by condensing style sheets and script files into a minimal number of external files, compacting the files, sending them with Gzip or Deflate encoding, doing intelligent caching, and placing script files at the end of the page, rather than the beginning. Performance improvements will be felt most dramatically by those with slower internet connections. Also implemented bug fixes and improvements, including: corrected display of polls, fixed results for Lucky's Followers System for New York and Texas, fixed "send report to administrator" feature in the browser test page, mad changes to the "change avatar" page, and made several other minor changes throughout the site.

Added a feature to the forums that limits the display size of test quoted from another post. If the size of the quote exceeds the maximum size, the quote box is shrunk, and scroll bars are added to the quote area. Each member can set their own maximum quote size on the Board Settings page. Added new feature to the topic threads, which displays any individual post's Permalink [Permanent Link] in a popup window when you click on the small post icon on the forum post. The previous behavior was to jump to that post when the post icon was clicked on. The new behavior allows the user to copy the link URL to the clipboard, or to navigate to the URL.

Finally tracked down the source of a multi-second delay that frequently happened when posting a new reply or new topic. The delay would occur after clicking the ""Post" button, but before jumping to the next page.

Revamped the home page appearance to cut down on the "boxiness" of the sections, and to place emphasis on the most recent news stories. Also, 20 news stories are now available on the front page, rather than 10 previously. Changed the title bar of all boxes to match the appearance of the new Lottery Post pages. Fixed a certificate warning message on the Log In page. Added a menu option to go directly to the logged in member's prediction statistics page from the Predictions menu. Updated links to download Adobe Flash plugin. Added new syndicated tile ad and updated banner ad.

Simplified many URLs: member profiles can now be reached by www.lotterypost.com/member/ or www.lotterypost.com/member/. One can go directly to a tab in their profile by adding the tab name like this: www.lotterypost.com/member//favorites. Also, all game information pages can be navigated to with the URL format: www.lotterypost.com/game/.

Improved predictions statistics page for each member with a better bar chart and zebra stripes on the summary table. Also, site-wide, made several minor adjustments, bug fixes, and spelling corrections that were in the site from the big Sunday update.

Fixed substantial JavaScript bug affecting the Safari web browser, which rendered many pages with non-performing JavaScript code. Several pages would load content, and have no interactive capabilities in Safari. The problem may have affected other browsers as well, but not Microsoft IE.

Fixed ability to scroll individual forum posts that are too wide to fit on the page, using IE7. IE6 users still cannot scroll individual posts, so the workaround for extra wide posts is to click the Print button on the thread to see the printable version, which can scroll.

Made several bug fixes and small improvements. Brand new activation page (used after new member registration and e-mail changes). The new activation page is much more accurate about reporting specific problems, and integrates with the Log In page, if the member is not logged in. Also, uses the latest look & feel.
