The New Mexico Lottery Authority will launch a new drawing game on September 26. "4 This Way" is designed as a game unique to New Mexico with a $4,000 nightly top prize.
Players select four numbers that must be matched in order from first to last. That way, players still have a chance of winning a prize on the final number drawn.
"Players who match four numbers in the order drawn will win $4,000," Lottery CEO Tom Shaheen said. "Players who miss the first number but match the last three win $40. The prize for missing the first two numbers but matching the last two is $4. And matching the fourth and final number pays $1."
Sales for 4 This Way begin Sunday, September 26, and the first drawing will be held Monday, September 27.
Shaheen said 4 This Way will fit well with the other daily games, Pick 3 and Roadrunner Cash, as well as the twice-weekly Powerball game. Like Roadrunner Cash and Pick 3, 4 This Way drawings are held nightly from Monday through Saturday. All four drawing games give players the option of selecting their own numbers or using a computer-generated quick pick.
Overall odds of winning a prize are approximately one in ten, and the approximate odds of winning the top prize are one in 10,000.
Shaheen said 4 This Way is projected to generate more than $1.3 million in sales for the nine months remaining in this fiscal year.
Results from each 4 This Way drawing will be televised alongside Pick 3 and Roadrunner Cash results. Results are also available soon after each drawing at Lottery Post on the New Mexico Lottery Results page.
The New Mexico Lottery Authority recently reported record net profits of $35.9 million following gross sales of $148 million for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2004. Since beginning in 1996, the Lottery has raised more than $221.1 for New Mexico education. All profits are now earmarked for the Lottery Success Scholarship program, which has provided in-state college tuition for more than 27,000 students.
