No Hummer.  No mansion.  No fancy clothes.  Tim and Donna Sindel of Mesa, Arizona have better plans for the $3.9 million after taxes they won in a recent Powerball drawing.

Theyre going to invest it, the couple said during a news conference at the Arizona Lotterys Phoenix office.

"We had the fantasies buy this, buy that," said Tim Sindel, who retired three years ago after 27 years as a Phoenix police officer. "I want this money to work for me."

Now their parents will be more comfortable. Their grandchildren three so far will have funds for college. Donna Sindel, whos still working in Phoenix parking enforcement, plans to take her retirement earlier than planned. They already had been fortunate on another front their son, a U.S. Marine, recently returned home safely after seven months in Iraq, Tim Sindel said.

"If you dont have the family, the moneys not worth it," he said. Tim Sindel has played for about eight years with the same numbers. He hit the Dec. 22 drawing for a $30.9 million jackpot, which he shared with winners in Nebraska and Pennsylvania. The Sindels opted for the lump-sum payout

The Safeway store at University Drive and Lindsay Road received a $25,000 bonus from Arizona Lottery.

3 jackpot winners in Powerball? Does that happen regularly?

It would make sense though. Mega Millions only has 11 states involved.

Mav:

It's not the number of states involved, but the population base.
