Actually, instead of putting it back into the lottery I heard that they were going to donate it to the Education system in Illinois.

              The person posting a couple of these e-mails is one of WINNERS of the 14 million dollar lottery!

                  But definately belonged to the person who bought it and his ex <but not at the time the      ticket was purchased!> wife<who is entitled to her share>......................................he was just 'greedy'............and delayed the claiming  until it was lost or destroyed.  Bizarre as it might be, it is the truth...

AND the Illinois Lottery - LOTTERYINFO@revenue.state.il.us emailed me on Wednesday, February 2, 2005 11:22 AM, saying "no, it was not claimed".

CASE CLOSED!

Besides not explaining why it was said that the ticket is in a safe deposit box, lost, then destroyed, I must say . Yes, let's wait and see you turnover the Illinois Lottery rules.

              Just pray for the <ex> wife, mother of four great children..........this matter is in the hands of lawyers.  AND all my posts have been the truth and nothing but the truth.

I just hope I was not the winner, I loose sh*t all the time, I once lost a 2000.00 winning ticket!

here's the tricky thing about this. the winner may be able to use the fact that a CT lotto winner was able to claim their prize after it went unclaimed in court as case law. the only problem with that it that the ticket is not from CT. i think the MUSL put it best when they answered a similar question. they said that if someone is in the process of getting a divorce (in this case, it's pretty similar), they cannot wait until it is finalized in court to claim the ticket unless the finalizing of the divorce falls within the claim period. there is nothing the holder of the ticket can do about it unless they are away on military leave.

There are other things the winner can do and is doing so just be patient and you will see......anyone have an old ticket out there?
