Georgia Lottery mistake gives players extra chance to win
Georgia Lottery: Georgia Lottery mistake gives players extra chance to win
Georgia lottery players have an extra chance to win Fantasy Five, due to a mistake made by lottery officials during the drawing. An internal audit, conducted as a normal course of business, revealed that one of the 39 numbered lottery balls was not placed into the drawing machine last Friday. As a result, the Georgia Lottery is honoring all winning tickets from Feb. 11th, and a bonus drawing will be held to make up for the mistake. Lottery President and Chief Executive Officer Margaret DeFrancisco blamed the mistake on human error. Officials have not set a date for the bonus drawing, which will be held immediately after a regular Fantasy Five drawing, DeFrancisco said. DeFrancisco said it is the first time such an error has happened in the Georgia Lottery. "When you consider that this is the first time an incident of this type has occurred in the Georgia Lottery, which is nearly 12 years old, and we do nearly 2,000 drawings a year, it's pretty rare," DeFrancisco said. All Fantasy Five tickets will be valid for both games that night.

Saw that last night. I'd personally love to have available a live feed on the internet of all pre and post tests of ballsets and machines leading up to draws, including actual draws that are televised on the basis of full public disclosure. No reason not to because live feeds are becoming very common ... Georgia House and Senate have them. Was told that New Jersey has a live feed for their draws. Todd, you'll have to verify that one. Hey, am always for any bonus the lottery cares to engage in to benefit its bread and butter supporters. Good luck in the draw!

To bad for all the people who tore up or tossed their tickets in the trash after they found out they didn't win that night.

I never tear up my tickets - save them for tax reasons. If you win big, you can deduct losses up to the amount of the win - the losing tickets serve as receiptl MrMST
Good luck and have a Disney Day ºoº

How does a ball get left out of a drawing? How did they not know for 6 days?

The honorable thing would've been to count the rouge ball as a winning number. But since so many tickets had probably been claimed, that really wouldn't be the fairest thing to do. But in any case, buy those tickets for that double draw!

Really? So if I win the losing tickets can be deducted from the amount withheld?

"ATLANTA During a routine internal audit review for the February 11, 2005 Fantasy 5 drawing, an incident caused by human error was identified by Georgia Lottery Corporation personnel. The error resulted in one of the 39 numbered balls being inadvertently left out of the Fantasy 5 draw machine at the time of the drawing. All winning tickets from the February 11, 2005 Fantasy 5 draw are valid for redemption.
The Georgia Lottery will hold a bonus Fantasy 5 drawing for Georgia Lottery players on a specified date yet to be determined. The bonus drawing will be held immediately following the Cash 4/Fantasy 5 regularly scheduled drawing for that date. All Fantasy 5 tickets purchased for the regularly scheduled Fantasy 5 drawing will be valid for that nights bonus draw as well. The GLC will announce the date of the bonus draw to the public as soon as it has been scheduled. http://www.galottery.com/stc/mediacenter/pressDetail.jsp?focus=mediacenter&id=1501824

I save them too. The same works for losing scratch tickets too right?
