The Virginia governor has promoted a Virginia Lottery administrator as its interim executive director.

Donna VanCleave will take over the job June 1st.  She'll succeed Penelope Kyle, who's leaving the lottery post to become the president of Radford University.

VanCleave started work at the Virginia Lottery in 1997 and has served as Budget and Planning Manager and is now the Director of Finance.

She's also worked at Virginia State University, and the Virginia Department of Planning and Budget.

VanCleave has degrees from Virginia Tech and the College of William and Mary.

Virginia Lottery Spokesman Ed Scarborough did not get the job.

The new Director will oversee approximately 270 employees at the Virginia Lottery.  That number includes employees at the Richmond headquarters, the data center in Henrico County, and six regional offices.
