They played in last tuesday's drawing and didn't win nothing. it just proves you don't increase your chances even with 1,000.00 dollars worth of tickets. Jack Whitiker brought one ticket.

Jack Whitaker bought $100 worth of tickets when he won over $314 million in Powerball.

I recall hearing a story a few years ago about a group in Australia that put up $1000.00 each (I don't recall how many people were in the group). They flew to the U.S. when one of the jackpot games was very large and placed a bet. I don't remember the outcome of their venture. Does anyone remember hearing or reading that story. Concerning the baseball story. Gambling is just as much a challenge as their game is with a quicker reward when you or they win. I understand that some of their paychecks for one year maybe more than some people will see in a life time, but let them play and loss like most of us do. It helps the jackpot grow faster.

i remember the story. it was for VA's lotto game. the jackpot was larger than the odds. they attempted to buy out the game. i believe the VA lotery stopped them. because of them, lotteries will slow down, or even shut off terminals in which the lottery thinks someone is using to buy out the game, and pre-printed playslips will not work. Speaking of which...here are the numbers:
Simpson's Lottery Numbers:
For $130,000,000: Order Drawn: 17-3-25-42-38-49 = 3-17-25-38-42-49
For $40,000: 3-6-17-18-22-29 (Marge's numbers that she didn't chip in to play) (drawn in order!) I wonder how many people play those numbers?

I find it strange that multi-millionairs would buy tickets. I make below the mean in WA state and would quit my job the instant I won. Those people are millionairs and if you like baseball seems like the job of a life time. I really wonder how many of them would quit if they won.

on another note, i saw something on TV a while back about shaquille o'neal, and noted how he likes to buy lottery tix including scratch off's. which raises the question that has been asked in here before ....would you still play after all that "jack"...? 20/20
"i am .........."meant to"

You can't blame these guys, it takes money to make money they have every right to do same as we can.... I hope they don't win as well but that is being selfish in some people eyes, but we all wish for a swell guy or gal thats a well deserving person Like me $$$$....

This is ridiculous...what if Bill Gates decided to buy $100,000 worth of tickets and won? He doesn't need the money nor do the Cincinnati Reds. These guys make at least $300,000, with many making millions and that is not counting endorsement deals, royalties or other income. If the ball boy for the Reds wants to buy a ticket then I'm fine with that, but not Ken Griffey Jr. who lives in a mansion!

There are many rich people who play the lottery everyday, we just don't hear about it because they aren't famous like baseball players. So if you are going to complain about these guys you might as well complain about every single person who plays the lottery, but already is financially secure. The lottery is not just for poor people looking for an easy way out. It's also for rich people looking to get richer and get in the news while they are at it.
