Louisiana man claims $250,000 Lotto jackpot

May 4, 2005, 11:21 a.m.

Louisiana Lottery Louisiana Lottery: Louisiana man claims $250,000 Lotto jackpot

A man from Houma has claimed the $250,000 Louisiana Lotto jackpot from the April 27th drawing, Louisiana Lottery Corp. officials said on Tuesday.

Officials said Bernabe Rivera received $175,000 after federal and state income taxes were withheld.

His ticket matched all six Lotto numbers drawn, which were ten, 18, 21, 24, 30 and 32.

Rivera purchased the ticket at Super Serve Number Four in Houma. That store will get a one-time bonus of $2,500, or one percent of the jackpot.

Meanwhile, lottery officials are urging players to check their lottery tickets. A $500,000 winning Lotto ticket purchased for the March 19 drawing remains unclaimed. That ticket was purchased in Mandeville.

that they do.

I've redone my website.  Go to www.dr-ew.com.  I kept a lot of the old stuff, and I've added some new stuff.  Look for more new stuff in the coming weeks.

How right you are!  Sorry that you have to be forced into using computerized drawings.  How sad.

Does lotteries with computerized draws have lower prizes than lotteries with ball machines?

I wonder why people don't check their tickets...that seems to happen a lot.  Do you think the ticket might be lost or they really didn't expect to win in the first place?

Lotto did use balls back when it first started, but then went computerized.  On the 4th ever Lotto drawing, I won $50.  I've also won the $50 one other time.

I'd like to have that $500,000 ticket!

I live in Louisiana too and I seldom play the Lotto.  The prizes increase only $25k-$50k every time the jackpot rolls.  We do need Lotto South.  I like how those prizes get in the millions and u can choose ANNUITY if u win.

I don't know why people don't check tickets.  I always check mine.  Of course I'd love to have that $500k winning ticket.  I wonder if Louisiana can afford to start the Lotto jackpot at $3 or $4 million.  That's sure to get sales up.  i'd buy it then.
