Oklahoma lottery Pick 3 begins Thursday

Oklahoma LotteryOklahoma Lottery: Oklahoma lottery Pick 3 begins Thursday

The Oklahoma Lottery Commission on Tuesday gave formal approval to start an online lottery game on Thursday.

The game, "Pick 3," involves three winning numbers that will be drawn nightly. The drawing will be televised on WB station Channel 19 in Tulsa.

"With Pick 3, there will be days when we will pay out more than we sell and some days when we have more sales than prizes," Jim Scroggins, executive director of the Oklahoma Lottery Commission, said.

Players who match the three numbers could win up to $500. The prizes will not be divided by the number of winners, Scroggins said. Players can select their numbers or can let them be chosen at random.

Pick 3 proceeds are usually about 12 percent of what is made in scratch-offs, Scroggins said. More than $29 million had been sold in lottery tickets as of late Monday night, he said.

So far, one person has won the grand prize in the $25,000 Jackpot scratch-off and 9 people have won the $1,000 prize. More than 30 people have won the $5,000 prize with Oklahoma Gusher, the commission reported on its Web site Tuesday.

The commission plans to release four holiday-themed scratch-offs on Nov. 17. The tickets will be sold in lesser quantities with hopes of selling out, Scroggins said.

The beginning of online games is the second phase of the lottery that began in October with scratch-off tickets. The lottery is intended to raise money for public schools, which will receive 30 percent of proceeds for the first two years and 35 percent thereafter.

That's a wise suggestion Tenaj. I have a small map of the U.S.A including Canada. It's gives me a visual of how the #'s are moving.

It looks complicated but I am pissed that lottery tickets aren't up to or over a million yet, I'm assuming powerball will the only game that is over millions of dollars?

          ok:

Don't rule out OK joining MUSL Hot Lotto. HL however is not a popular game.

I just went to the OK lottery site and noticed 50c bets won't be allowed (example: the popular "50-50" bet.) Minimum play will be $1. Boxes will pay 48%.

That's a real bummer. Well, just be happy you have a lottery. I also noticed that you can play each kind of play on the same panel. It may cost $2.00, but Str/Box is available if you mark Straight AND Box.

WOW.  That's a bad move.  However, the best thing is they can always go back and revise that.  I think they needed to start the Holiday Scratch offs at the first of the month.  Just my opinion.  Also they may need to think about district offices in place such as Tulsa and Enid.  OK is a big state to travel for $777 if you win lucky 7's.  I also hear from store owners that they don't know how to use their machines to print pick 3 tickets.  They say they aren't going to sell them until they are trained.  Hmmm...  I can't say that I blame them.  Would you like to pay a $1 for a mistake?

How are you going to win if you don't play?

At the VERY least the OK Lottery needs a satellite office in Tulsa. My friend whom I just visited works there.
