A store here sold one of the 86 Match 5 winning tickets on June 18. But the Gary ticket is the only one that has yet to be claimed, said lottery spokesman Drew Griffis on Thursday. Winners have 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prize, but to collect this six-figure payout, the winner will have to travel to lottery headquarters in Indianapolis. The winner chose 5, 8, 10, 16 and 24 to match five numbers in the six-digit Powerball drawing. The June 18 Powerball number was 5. After the taxes, the winner will get a lump sum payment of about $75,000, Griffis said. The figure is about three times the median household income in Gary, and double the Lake County median. Lottery officials do not reveal the location where winning tickets are sold until after the prize has been claimed, Griffis said. If someone thinks they have a winning ticket but can't find their way to Indianapolis by 5 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Wednesday, they should contact lottery customer service at (800) 955-6886, Griffis said. The 86 winners nationwide, including two others in Indiana, was exceptionally high, Griffis said. "The number of people who don't claim winning tickets is very low," Griffis said. "Hopefully somebody has it and is just waiting until the last moment." Ticketholders who matched the first five digits of the Powerball drawing, but not the sixth and final Powerball number, received $100,000. The Match 5 prize was raised to $200,000 Aug. 31. Same thing happened in Spartanburg, SC...someone won $500,000 from Powerball and has until the 23rd I think to 'fess up. What a shame. Probably washed the ticket in the laundry...talk about "laundered money".

PB is still waiting for the Missouri, November 2nd $31M, winner to come forward. I think the timeline for finding a lawyer has long passed. Probably a newbie who threw it away or has no idea of the value.

Michigan recently just had 2 $175,000 Mega Millions prizes go unclaimed last month. There is a $1.5 million (half of a 3 million dollar jackpot) that will expire at the beginning of next month (Jan.) In Michigan we get a year to claim our prize. Brad

I'm looking at the left of the screen, seeing $64.8M tax free cash dollars for Euro Millions. Bet your two youngest children, I hit and there will be no waiting for the expiration date to claim that money. I'd be on a plane next Friday night!

Probably a newbie who threw it away or has no idea of the value. MO winners have 60 days from the DRAWING in which to choose cash; otherwise they would be stuck with annuity payments.

From the drawing? Wonder who stayed up all night writing that rule. MO might be alone among MUSL members in that respect, but Florida and several Mega Millions states start the clock with the drawing as well.

HAPPY SUNDAY EVERYONE.........12/11
Funny, but sometimes people purchase the ticket, enroute to or from the store, and stick them in their pockets, with the lose change, realizing the ticket is there much later, after unconsciously feeling in that pocket looking for the car keys, or door keys, or after not having worn that Coat for several weeks...........The ticket becomes lose change or like a store reciept

Come on CHEWIE..........it is possible......
