" While Robyn plans to continue working at a Target store "

Please ...........

That was exactly what I said when I read that, except I said it like this..

Target?  PUHLEEEEZZE!!

Clunker, I really like your dream home. Wow! Keep dreaming. But I guess I think on a much smaller level. I just can't imagine spending $6 million on a house no matter how much money I won.

I'm very happy for this family, but I think they are still in shock. At least Nancy realizes she doesn't want to make corned beef sandwiches any longer. The economy is terrible and millions are losing their jobs, so there will probably be a lot of resentment if her husband keeps his no matter how much he likes his coworkers.  I agree with Gamegrl that he has every right to his job and benefits, but like Chewie wrote, wait until he wants to tell his boss where to get off.  I can't use the expression on this board (which is good!)  but I think the first time I heard **F---u  Money** was in the late 60s in a novel by Irving Wallace called The 7 Minutes. Tom Snyder used it on his evening talk show every once in a while. (I really liked Tom Snyder)  I this that term applies to over $40 million bucks, even after taxes.

It will change the people around them. They will be pursued for their money. They will lose their friends when they say no. Keeping quiet is the best idea and the best chance to keep their current lives. They will have to move to where they are unknown.

But how will they keep their jobs at Target and "roadside maintenance" if they move somewhere to be unknown ?

The only" Target "I would have with 84 MIL in hand would be a bulls eye pointing me to Vegas and the only "roadside maintenance" I would be doing would be maintaining my side of the road in my new Viper.

But that's just me.........

"Clean up on aisle 5" comes over the speaker. Wonder what the reaction time is for a multimillionaire cleanup person?

Cheers

PartyYippee Yi Yo, Yo!PartySomebody won who really needed it WON using their own gut instinct numbers!

Like the people from disaster areas really need a win.  When you are completely wiped out, it is hard to tart over when you are 68 years old.  It is MY GUT INSTINCT that we will eventually go to a disaster relief lottery.

Let's hear it for the "L" word!!!GuitarBanana

Good Idea to introduce the USA Lottery!  We need a national lottery to take care of charitable efforts of the USA and other areas of the world when NATURAL DISASTERS Strike.  And believe me, they are going to come in a D-e-l-u-g-e! in the next ten years.  (Read the national weather service web sites).  Can we depend on the generosity of citizens like 911 and the great out-pouring of generosity for Hurricane Katrina? There were other disaters in the world as well, such as the Sunami, several earthquakes...the list goes on.

So, to introduce this phenomenal lottery, lets start by offering prizes to promote the lottery.  In each state there will be top prizes in addition to the cash valued Jackpots. Come on ya'll, Let's hear it for the

Congratulations to the family for winning the $84 million CA SLP jackpot. How much did they spend on CA SLP on that draw? When they pick the winning draw, how did these numbers relate to them?

Does it come with a built-in mud slide? LA is not that stable of a place for a huge investment; unless you have a secondary home in Florida!

Cheers

I subscribe to the fathers attitude, if ya love your job, get the benefits of health and retirement funds, why not keep the job :)

I'm sure the benefits provided by $40M+ will overload the Target health and retirement plans.  I wonder how many INTELLIGENT lottery winners still had their original job, say three years later.

Cheers

Too funny! Are you saying that when your home falls into the Pacific you can then move to your other home before it gets blown into the Atlantic?

Anyway, Bonita would be perfect for this family. Lots of multi-million $$$ homes on the Gulf and we also have a nice Target up the road! Mom can work next door at the Albertson's deli. Plus there's a lot of road construction going on, so her Dad can get right back into the asphalt again. Nobody at work will need to know they're rich unless they invite them home for dinner.
