Wisconsin Lottery: Wisconsin Lottery Posts Record Quarter
Lottery Topped Sales Of $142 Million The Wisconsin Lottery said it has had its best quarter ever. The lottery posted sales of just more than $142 million from January through March, the third quarter of the state's fiscal year. Previously, the fourth quarter of 1995 was the best when sales grew to nearly $140 million. The lottery has generated $391 million in sales through the first three quarters of the current fiscal year, thanks largely to a record Powerball jackpot won by eight workers at a Nebraska meat-processing plant in February. Lottery director Michael Edmonds said that year-to-date sales have helped generate an estimated $125 million in tax relief.

I get the idea that WI wants to stay with its Megabucks rather than join the slowly-growing Hot Lotto. WI would be under more pressure if HL changes its matrix.

wow.i wonder if the record number of players know the lottery is no longer ball drawn but computerized.....

wow.i wonder if the record number of players know the lottery is no longer ball drawn but computerized..... I doubt it. From what I see in the convenience stores here (retailers) people are being squeezed by high gasoline prices and rising prices on a lot of things...many of them seem to be playing the lottery in "desparation" and using QPS. I see less and less of people actually submitting playslips. That's not all "gospel" or anything. Just that I make it a point of noticing things in general (I've been told I "notice things", not just regarding lotto) and that's what I have observed. Basically, if not for online play, I don't know if I would be able to play the lottery. The WI lottery has way too many "oddball" facets to it. I just don't trust it. It really seems like sometimes they pull the numbers out of their butts.  ============

If a method is working in the short term, it doesn't seem to matter if its a computer state or not in my experience. But the stupidest thing is that the worst state to get something going in seems to be my own Wisconsin. Very strange and ironic when the state you live in gives you the least good luck. ============

I'm not a fan of computerized drawings. But I probably would make an exception for Hot Lotto if it were played closer to me than New Hampshire.
