I think it's unfair. It’s like going shopping, getting everything you want. Paid for it, then the store tells you "Thanks for shopping here but we just wanted your money the goods stay here." But on the other hand they brought it upon themselves by coming in illegally. Also I reminder reading this story where a guy brought multi million dollar winning ticket using drug money and they only took like half of his winning instead of the whole thing. Both illegal acts but one keeps half while the other gets none.
All my tickets are winners, atleast until the draw proves me wrong.

I agree w/Tom. It's exactly like someone breaking into your store and you saying, "Well they got in, they might as well take something". This whole thing comes down to LEGAL vs ILLEGAL. Legal = get your win, Illegal = "oh well". And besides, good for them if anyone from another country wins IF THEY'RE LEGAL. But if they skirted the rules and then win what may have been my win, that makes me really mad. Just do it by the books! I'm an American, born, bred and loyal. I have to obey the law - they should too!

The law is the law. We wouldn't have illegal aliens if it were not for U.S. companies laughing all the way to the bank by employing this "next best thing to slave labor" workforce. They say that illegals do jobs nobody wants... that's not true, they just do it for a salary that nobody wants... these companies aren't making the products cheaper, just fattening up their own pockets. Society works because of laws, illegal is illegal... I agree with the law. furthermore, round 'em up and send 'em back. start punishing the companies who brought them here and start paying actual fair salaries for these "unwanted" jobs. Playing more than one ticket per game is betting against yourself.

It's amazing to me that this is even an issue, If you are wanted for murder or have any kind of warrant out for you for illegal activity and you cashed in your lottery winning ticket you would be arrested on the spot and sent to jail; this should be the same for any person engaged in any illegal activity whether it be theft, murder, or entering in the U.S. illegally.

If you are wanted for murder or have any kind of warrant out for you for illegal activity and you cashed in your lottery winning ticket you would be arrested on the spot and sent to jail; that is the one thing that KILLS me ... now I have never had a record nor been wanted, but why is it that we can buy a new car or buy a house or buy food to eat for that matter and noone is the wiser of your personal business BUT oh hell win the lotto and they need to know what color your damn underwear is!!!! I am sure that someone somewhere has a LEGAL explanation for it but its just seems to me that everything is so damn backwards when it comes to the "Lotto" .. but my thought on the topic is. I dont think if the person is not a legal resident of the usa then they should not be able to play. But as someone had said in another comment, they will still play and they will just find someone to claim it for them.

Thats where they get the term Illegal aliens. If your an "Illegal" alien - you are not suppose to be in the states - point blank..period... thats why you are an "Illegal" alien - why should you win big $$ from somewhere you are not legal to step foot in. What the hey - you might as well be any age to buy lotto tickets if thats the case..if it's good b/c they are losing $$ on losing tickets b/c they are putting $$ into the states - then why not have kids use their chore $$ to buy losing tickets - if that sounds bad for a child to lose $$ - then you must be racist for saying its good for aliens to lose their $$ b/c the $$ is going to the states either buyer......

I know you cant card every non american that walks in to a store to purchase lotto - but if he wins - he doesnt have to be paid........

The Charlotte Observer is running a series on this debate. I think it is one of the best read out there on the issue. I think if we all know how the government is playing us against each other for political reasons we will change our views or understand it a little better. We can stop hating Mexicans and see the big picture. The politicians and government made it so easy for them to be here. Billions and billions of dollars change hands. It grease the palms for businesses who want cheap labor. Employers do not have to report social security #s to the IRS if it is less than 11 and bogus SS# money goes into a "slush fund" That is just a couple of loop holes that was made for businesses. http://www.charlotte.com/mld/charlotte/news/special_packages/immigration/ The bogus social security section, I found most interesting. I had my mouth open in disbelief as I read. It is a picture and would not fit in my blog. But please people read the series. We do want this issue to be a scapegoat for the next election. Yes they will arrest, deport but after the election, the problem will still be there and we would have been arguing about something that nothing was going to be done about it anyway. Don't let the politicians pull your stings. Demand reform! I hope this link works if not you can find it on The Charlotte Observer online edition, search immigration and click on full series and read what is most interesting to you.

I remember waiting in 3 hours lines to get gas in the early 70's and cars being made with gas cap keys.

I wonder how he knew the 20-deep line cashing winning lottery tickets at the service counter was made up of illegal aliens.

If what he believed to be true is in fact true, then he would be able to tell winning SCRATCH tickets from losing ones ...without having scratched them and with 100% accuracy!

I have a positive idea on how we can protest the illegal alien issue on a grassroots level. The Hispanics are calling for a boycott of stores on May 1st and not going to work. I suggest that anyone against this demonstration go to the stores and BUY something on May 1st. At the checkout counter, tell the clerk that you are a customer who doesn't support the Hispanic action. The same day, go to your boss, shake his hand and thank him for the opportunity he has given you to work there. That should send a message, especially when the Hispanics are out marching.
