Another reason of the many why NY lottery is the worst run lottery in the world. When you check a ticket on the automatic scanner it just tells you to see retailer if you won, not the amount. So I am sure clerks get away with this all the time. The fact that NY has the codes on the tickets also is very annoying. You dont have to bother scratching the whole ticket you can just see the letter coding. Do I even need to mention the miniscule payout percentages also?
