A Goldsboro man who purchased his ticket in Raleigh came away a big winner last Saturday in the Powerball drawing.

He matched all five white balls in Saturday's Powerball drawing to win $200,000.

Henry Bunn visited the North Carolina Education Lottery's headquarters earlier this week to collect his $200,000 Powerball prize. Bunn purchased the winning ticket at Kangaroo Gas Station #935 on Capital Boulevard in Raleigh while he was on vacation.

Bunn told lottery officials that he has played the lottery for years in at least five states along the east coast. "I think it should have been here years ago," he told lottery officials. "I really think it's a good thing for the state of North Carolina."

Bunn works as a mechanic and said he discovered he had a winning ticket about 4am on Sunday morning.

"I drank coffee all day long yesterday," he said. "It hasn't sunk in yet." Bunn said he plans to buy a new truck with his winnings and he hopes to save the rest.

Other NC Lottery Winners

Also this weekend, a player won $10,000 by matching four white balls and the Powerball. Four other players cashed in winning Powerball and top tier instant scratch-off tickets in the past few days.

There was an unknown winner of $10,000 who bought their ticket at 4 Brothers at 5th & Broad St., in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Also, Kristen Warnke Alexander won $10,000 after buying a ticket at the Fastrac Food Mart at 631 Old Leicester Highway, Asheville

Vincent Calipari of Charlotte also won $8,000 in the "$100,000 Jackpot" scratch off game.

Blane Norris of Angier, NC won $7,777 in the "Sapphire Blue 7's" scratch off game and Betty Galloway of Laurinburg, NC won $5,000 in the "Bingo" scratch-off game.

Congrats to the winners and I'm glad to see Henry Bunn means to put most of his winnings in savings. I'd do the same for that amount.

$200,000 is awesome, but if he had spent the extra dollar for powerplay, he would have received $600,000.

I have tried both ways and have had better luck without the powerplay. I have yet to get the powerball playing powerplay since it started here in NC.

I never play PowerPlay due to budget constraints. I know I'll be sick about it if I ever hit a decent payout prize!

I've noticed a high % of the $200,000 winners from North or South Carolina play PowerPlay. Maybe I should splurge occasionally.
