Slow news day, huh?

Hot Lotto has been making news for a while now. But no one seems to care except myself.

That's true, Hot Lotto is computerized.

Not to those who care about the Florida Lotto jackpot.

In addition to the 9 million we are also amazed at the amount of raffle tickets that have already been sold in the Christmas raffle which started just one week ago.

Out the original 1,250,000 to be sold, as of 7:30am this morning 10/27/06 only 394,733 remain.  To put it more in perspective, of the 25 million dollars that was to be raised, the Lottery Commission has already raised 17 million and some change.  This amounts to about 70% plus of the tickets being sold in just one week.  I believe this has blown all expectations.  There was some concern initially that the sales would go right to the wire on December 30, 2006.  At this rate they will all be gone in the next 3 to 4 days which is what I predicted.  However, darn it I will get nothing for my prediction.

I know it is a Florida thing but everyone else has certain states they are close to and report on.

Thanks for that info Floridian, very interesting.  I always love reporting on the Florida Lottery, because there are so many serious lottery players in the Sunshine State.

Thanks for the heads up on this Floridian.  I had planned on buying 5....have 3 already.  I better rush out now.  It's cutting into my Pick 3/4's, but I like the odds and the payouts.  Damn, $10,000.00 sounds good to me!

I've been going bonkers with the my 4 states all having raffles. I have easy access to DE, MD, NJ, and PA and will have no less than one of each.

You should see it tonight!  Now the raffle "meter" is RED.  This is the Lottery's way of getting people to buy tickets so they won't lose out before they're gone. Their marketing for this game is really smart. 

I stopped to get gas today and walked in with a $20 bill. Figured I'd charge the gas and buy a ticket, but I chickened out!     A win would be soooooo nice.  But a loss would be sooooo lousy.  I need to wait a couple of days to make sure nothing more is going to blow up or fall apart (my car, my teeth, dvd player, hair dryer, pocketbook, cell phone..and the list goes on)  The mind & body have been going too, but those weren't unexpected expenses.

I know...whine, whine, whine, whine.  I hope Emily doesn't post another Blog entry about being neurotic.  I'm starting to get paranoid.  LOL

I was just wondering if any lottery post member has ever won the lottery?  I would be interested to find that out. Anyway if anyone who is a member happens to read this would you please reply? Anyway Wed Nov 29 is my birthday and it sure would be nice to have my numbers hit. I have 2 advance play tickets for the Florida lottery and I am pretty sure that no one from Alaska has ever won. So if it happens to be me I will be sure to let all the lottery post members know about it, or you can check out the Florida lottery web site with me holding up the ceremonial 9 million dollar check. Well anyway, I guy can dream can't he.  You have to be in it 2 win it, and hopefully I can make history and be the first person from Alaska to win the Florida lottery. Stay tuned............

I can not answer your question with total certainty but I will give you this.  Over the past several months, as I recall, there have been several polls on LP that have asked if you have won x amounts of dollars.  One of the choices was over a million.  I think that several people answered yes.  Obviously, all the poll expected you to do was to check mark your pick.  If everyone that answered yes was telling the truth, then it appears that several people have won a lot.

Most people who win are not going to devulge who they are for obvious reasons.  Security being the biggest one and then to reduce the harrassment from those awlful phone calls, letters and people just asking you on the street for money with no strings attached.  I mean just asking you to give them money.  I guess they believe in that saying one of the political parties is fond of, that being, re-distribution of wealth.  Some people have experienced threats on their lives and there family's lives. 

If I were you and did win a big one, I believe I would re-evaluatie my position when it comes to exposing your identity.  Most states have you devulge your name and address when you claim your prize  but you sure do not have to plaster your identity around anymore that you have to.

I guess I have tip toed around the real question you asked but that is the best I can do.  Maybe someone else knows for a fact that someone at LP has won and will share that information.

That is very good advice, We all know about the horror stories that come along with hitting a huge jackpot. I guess I got a little overzealous with my day dreaming! It's smart to keep as low a profile as possible and just try to live a normal life. So after reading your reply, I would definetly just disclose the required information and request minimal publicity. Thank you for you advice, I should have known better!

Agree with Floridian.  Before I write anything else, I want to say that Todd has created a wonderful web site, one of the best I've seen. I would love to say "Hello to all my friends on Lottery Post, but...

one of the reasons I wouldn't want to write "I won $10 million dollars on the board" is for 10 reasons, the first 9 being "This is the internet!!!"  Nothing about the internet is private, including your emails.

The other is that, unless I signed on under a different user name, I wouldn't want all of my 1,000+ posts and my blog entries being read by the media, nosy relatives, neighbors or other curiosity seekers who like to pry into another person's life.  I've felt very free to express myself here, because this is an anonymous site. We often discuss a lot more than the numbers when posting on blogs, and we get into discussions on forums I might not want my family to read. Suddenly, the freedom to write freely would be taken away from me, since my win would be a public record (at least in FL)  Keep in mind that if I did sign on as a new member, then my announcement of the winning jackpot would have no credibility.  I could say "Hi, it's Nancy" and nobody would really know if I was an impersonator. In fact, right now I could be a 25 year old man living in Minnesota.  

As I've said in the past, I would pack up and move far away for a while since I have no strong ties to this area.
