The winning numbers for the Delaware Lottery's first-ever raffle were selected yesterday, Dec. 31, 2006.

The winning number for the $250,000 grand prize is 00036224. The five winning numbers for the $25,000 prizes are 00029012, 00059271, 00066514, 00066667 and 00095829.

There were 250 winning numbers that paid $500 apiece as well. The full list of winning numbers can be seen at:

The 100,000 tickets sold for the raffle cost $10 each.

Unlike regular lottery games, in which prizes roll over when no one selected the winning numbers that were drawn, all of the raffle's prizes are guaranteed to be paid, Lottery Director Wayne Lemons said.

Odds of winning are 1 in 391, which Lemons called "the best odds offered by the Delaware Lottery for prizes this size."

The grand prize will most likely not step forward, but the grand prize winner will.

I think I need to start a raffle contest.

100,000 tickets @$10.00= $1,000,000 and pay out to winners was a total of $500,000????

Looks like easy money to me for the State.

I don't see anything unusual about it.  That's about the same percentage of profits they make in the other games.  El Gordo is unusual because it returns 70% of the money in prizes, but 50% is common for USA lotteries, regardless of game.  Cash Only always complains about NY's 40% return.

What's different about the raffle is not the state's profit, it's your odds of winning a million dollars (much better odds in a raffle game).  (In Delaware, it's a better shot at winning $250,000.)
