Jack Whittaker: un-luckiest lottery winner ever

WOW he sure is a popular topic now isnt he. I think that the facination with JW will go on for as long as he keeps putting himself in that situation. I dont think that ANYONE " is asking for" anything bad to happen to them. Some people believe in making there own fate and I am one of those people. I think that JW made his own fate yes. But asking for it never.  He just didnt use his head and he just didnt know how to handle a large jackpot like that. Everytime I read a story about him it just breaks my heart. All of us that would do ALMOST anything to be able to have been the one that won that ticket, for us to have to set back and watch his carelesness when he has the oppertunity to live out most of our dreams put together ... just makes me sick

I don't feel like reading all the previous posts on this topic, so I apologize in advance if somebody has already suggested this, however: Read between the lines people! Jack didn't have the money just stolen. He had somebody take it and hide it so that he wouldn't have to pay the lawsuit. He wasn't nearly incensed enough for somebody who had all that money stolen. It's probably in a bank in the cayman islands. Speaking ofwhich, do any of you think it would be a good idea if you won the powerball this weekend, then take a large chunk of the money and put it in an offshore account? Or possibly one in Switzerland. This would, I think, insulate your fortune from all the minor lawsuits that would inevitably come your way. Just a thought.

you know jack should have kept his mouth close on his winning. seems like everybody is out to get him.

I knew a guy that used to carry around a wad of $1 bills, wrapped in the only $100 bill this guy must have ever had.  Dirt poor.  He just wanted to 'look' like he was loaded.  He figured it might get him a 'chick' one day.  Whatever.  This same fellow was a heavy drinker with a bowling problem.  Had a good sense of humor though.

I knew another guy that used to brag about cashing his entire paycheck, carrying the money home, handing ALL the money to his wife, and letting her deposit the money at another branch of the same bank.  Here's the kicker, he was a mid-level manager making a little over $100k/yr.  They both wanted to 'feel' the money to know it was real.  He would also do a little money flashing around the office.  Jerk.  No sense of humor, whatsoever.

What about the rest of you LP posters?  Have you ever seen ordinary people do really stupid things with money?

By feeling, handling, seeing, maybe even 'rolling in' the money he was using "The Law of Attraction" to draw more money to him.  May have been viewed as a jerk but also may have been smarter than people give him credit for. 

Law of Attraction yes, flashing wads of cash in front of others, common sense, no.

Once I read that if you are robbed, it's best to have some cash on you so the mugger doesn't get upset that you're broke or only have credit cards.  I rarely carry a lot of cash.  However, it's a good way to hide purchases or other transactions I suppose.  I guess it's a person habit, but it's too easy to lose.  At least a credit card is protected.  It's also too easy to spend! 

BTW, I would never roll in money.  Yuck.  It's so dirty and full of germs.  So, if I hang around the bank everyday is there a chance I will attract more wealth? 

I used to do that with the $1. bills when I was young, dumb and full of ............. Now that I am older I don't even want people knowing that I have a quarter. I carried a large sum of money on me once to work. I only did it because I needed to deposit it in the bank and didn't have time before I had to be in, so I was going to take it to the bank during my lunch break to deposit it. Once I had $10,000 cash on me and I was so terrified that I was gonna be robbed. I felt like I had a giant neon sign saying "ROB ME", even though nobody knew I had it. There's a guy at work who everyone knows carries large sums of money, in fact they call him the bank. Everyone goes to him whenever they need change because they know he can make change for any denomination. I don't know how he does it because all I feel comfortable carrying on me is around $100 

If anyone believes Jack has lost $100,000,000, please stop playing any kind of lotteries/gambling and mail on a regular basis every dime you normally would play to me.  I'll gladly take your money.  I am certain a large chunk is gone, along with his wife, grand daugther, friends and church members, but he'll kill himself about 3 million before he is bancrupt.

I like Jack Whittaker.    I dont think his story is over yet.

Like King Solomon in the Bible, we learn and wisdom is gained from lifes experiences.  As King Solomon did when he wrote Eccelsiastes in the Bible, I think Jack will have some good insight to share with the rest of us about the persuit of Happiness.
