"According to a story I read today at msnbc, Mr. Nabors claims his big win won't change him. He said he would continue to live his life as before March 6."

Despite rushing to claim his winnings right away he does sound like a pretty down to earth guy. He said he just bought a boat before winning (the article here seems to have it wrong), so it sounds like he's not  planning to rush out and  buy any expensive toys, and his plan is to get some property and go fishing rather than move to Palm Beach and buy a couple of Ferraris and Lambo's. He may make some mistales, but I don't think he's got much chance of playing with the big boys like Jack Whittaker and David Edwards.

I'd like to see where you get that information from? I have yet to see anything said about the guy doing anything of the sort in any news release so far! I guess it's another case of the country bumpkin that thinks winning the lottery, is no different than winning the jackpot at the local church bingo game in town.......

I also figured Whodeani was being sarcastic. However, ya never know on this board, since there are a few members who make very "unusual" comments.  As far as the man being a "country bumpkin" goes - he's now a very, very rich country bumpkin.  Unlike most employers nowadays, the lottery fairy doesn't run a background check on your education before selling you a ticket!  I think he sounds like a nice guy who just got excited and was in shock.  Anyway, just because someone lives in a small town in GA, drives a truck and doesn't live in a mansion doesn't mean he's stupid. I've personally known several people with a Ph.D. hanging on their walls, and they're clueless. I understand his anxiety, and I'd be petrified of losing my ticket.  He can always get financial advice next week and he'll still have plenty of money left.  Although it's not the same amount by a long shot, the FL lottery jackpots have been huge. The man who won 1/2 of the $42 million FL jackpot last month hasn't been heard from since he claimed his prize (in a 30 yr annuity)  the day after the drawing, and he was an accountant. I've read several press releases on Mon or Tues after a Sat night win.  I agree that it's much better to wait a few weeks to make plans, but we're all judging this man by his actions, when we're still a bunch of poor slobs filling out our lottery slips.  So who has the last laugh?

BTW, why are people here saying "20 year payout" when MM is 26 years?  Still, I'd take 195M : 26 = $7.5M a year less taxes.  Then I'd be able to continue to screw up my life for the next 25 years and still have a huge check waiting for me when I'm 82. (if I live that long)

Can You say Beverly Hillbillies?  Just a rich country Bumpkin that tries oh so hard to live the simple life around a bunch of rich peeps.

If I were to win, anything over say $20Mil, I would first go into partnership with my brother, form an LLC (Ltd Liabilty Corp) and then claim winnings through lawyer hired to spokesperson for the company. You dont see my face and dont know my name.  That way you avoid civil liabilty and secure privacy. And something like this, I wouldnt claim for maybe 2-3 months.  Let the heat die down or maybe see pot build up again, then win that one too...:) LoL.

You can only do that in a state that won't announce your name, Gina.  No matter how you claim your prize, in a Trust or LLC, many lottery rules dictate that you cannot remain anonymous.  Some of them even require a press conference.  This subject has been discussed many times on LP.

Well Im not Gina. I just am a friend of hers. Name is Steve.  And even if I had to be there at the PC I would not change the LLC. If you were to search my name after the winning, you'd come up with nothing.

BTW Does anyone know anyone who works for the state lottery or is it like the CIA or NSA where they say they work for some corporation?

LLC doesn't give you anonymity.  Only a trust can do that.  Anyone can look up the public records of the LLC to see who the Managers are.

Good luck!

"There were just two winning tickets sold in the 10-state game, lottery officials said."

I thought there was 12 states in the Mega Millions.

There were just two winning tickets sold in the 12-state game, lottery officials said.

I'm not sure where you read that because this is what I copied and Pasted from the article.

Just an fyi, I don't spend any time voting . The teenyboppers have that all covered, as an example they voted to dump Sundance and keep no talent Sanjay..

BTW, Gina is smokin hot to me. I can see why you like her....

Congratulations to Mr. Nabors of GA and NJ for winning the jackpots. I hope they both choose cash option and not have financial problems later in life.

I Agree!  with DoubleDown

To follow up on your FYI DD....

I wonder if the site "vote for the worst" really has an influence on the results!  Have you seen that site? Sundance wasn't the best, but he was far superior to Sanjaya which is the contestant the site is promoting.  That said, a 12 year old girl can text message faster than most adults with good taste, so maybe that's why this 17 yr old with all the hair is still a contestant!  I'm glad Jarad was voted off,  but I don't know how some of these people can honestly think they have a lot of talent. I really think Sabrina was one of the best singers, but a big mistake IMHO was voting A.J. off the previous week. Obviously the voting audience has no appreciation for style.  It will probably come down to Melinda, Lakisha and Stephanie, although Mandesa was voted off last season, so ya never know.

Since I'm female, I can't really say I find Gina"hot" but I do think she's very good and I've enjoyed her performances.  As pretty as Antonella is, I'm happy she was voted off, but I honestly don't care about all the gossip.  I like Nashville Star better - more talent.  My favorite so far was Rock Star INXS, although I wasn't a big J.D. fan.  I often wonder if the outcomes of these shows are fixed.  Chris from American Idol has one of the top selling albums in the country and he was voted off the show.  Makes you wonder.
