 Oh, well...

You CAN'T do that in California. You have to go through a press conference and release your name.

ambelamba...you are half right.  In California they will release your name.  If you want to claim as an entity they require the name of a natural person who will get the funds which will be released.  They do not release the city of residence but they do release where the ticket was purchased.

One Does NOT have to go through a press conference.  The most recent example of this was Richard  Roberts who won a SLP jackpot in July of last year for $110 million.  He declined the press conference saying he would do his own press.  The lottery was not that happy about this situation.  Here is a link to the article:  http://www.lotterypost.com/news/138494?q=Roberts

I certainly understand that the lotteries want publicity, but I don't understand why anybody would  force somebody to do a press conference they don't want to do. If I won the lottery and was forced to do a press conference I'm pretty sure I could make the lottery a lot less happy than if I hadn't been forced to do a press conference.
