This is terrible in my opinion. I almost had a similar thing almost happen to me once. I tried to cash a $25 ticket at a chain convenience store and almost didn't get my money because she didn't have alot in the register. After the woman in line behind me bought a carton of cigarettes, there was enough money to pay me.
There was another chain store I used to deal with which would always give me an arguement whenever I wanted to cash any ticket, even for $1. I just quit buying tickets there. I should have reported them to the lottery, but I didn't. That chain was bought out so I don't know if they are still doing that.
What I do now is if it it's more than a few dollars, I go to a supermarket to cash my tickets since they have more cash on hand than a little convenience store.
Just my opinion.
