Ca$hola Ca$hola: First Ca$hola jackpot win in Delaware

A Dover woman won $318,770 on a penny slot machine at Dover Downs Hotel & Casino.

Ingrid Karas won the jackpot Tuesday on the multistate game Ca$hola.

It was the first Ca$hola win in Delaware and the second-highest jackpot at the casino, according to a news release from Dover Downs.

The game also is played in Rhode Island and West Virginia.

Karas, a retired telephone operator, moved to Delaware from Long Island, N.Y, four years ago.

Former Ohio schoolteacher becomes Ca$hola millionaire

The latest Delaware Ca$hola jackpot comes on the heels of an exciting win for a vacationing Ohio resident. 

A Wadsworth schoolteacher who retired June 7 became a millionaire June 15 at a racetrack and gambling resort in West Virginia.

The Mountaineer resort in Chester, W.Va., said in a news release last week that Beverly Witten, a teacher for 38 years, hit the CA$HOLA jackpot for $3,718,311.54. She chose to take a lump-sum payout of $1,945.445.

The game is a multi-state video lottery started in July, 2006, in West Virginia, Rhode Island and Delaware.  It was created by MUSL, the innovators of the huge multi-state Powerball lottery game.

Witten had visited the resort once a month for several years and had been playing the video lottery for two hours when she hit the jackpot.

How much does this cost to play?  Sorry, but the article began with a story about a penny slot and then listed other winners, so I'm not sure it's the same game.  Was this also a penny slot machine?What?

Yes, this machine was a penny slot, but I have no idea how much she actually pumped into it.

The thing with these "penny" slots is that the max coin will be still up to several dollars, and most players will play max because you need to in order to qualify for the Jackpot. They're paperless nowadays so you don't even put actual pennies in. I don't like these new video machines either because they're confusing and tough to win on. I don't know if 5 Olive Oyls pays better than 5 spinach cans (or often, nothing!) and what crazy angle zigzag the payline is. I do best on the old school 3-reelers.

I Agree!  I like the old 3 reel wheel of fortune dollar slots, so I was excited to pay my first visit to the Hard Rock in Tampa this spring.

I was disappointed to see it was video rather than reels, then the max bet was 4 !!!

And to top that off, I hated the crazy zig zag paylines. Never even tried it. Did not like the way it looked.

So I went with a tried and true 3 reeler(but it was video too) 10x pay machine ...

The days of the 3 reelers are long gone, much like mechanical drawings in many states. Remember, the real money comes from the daily/every social security check diehards who will play whatever is put in front of them.
