UK National Lottery: Mom gets son's age wrong and wins lotteryA lucky mom has revealed how a mistake over her son's age won her a lottery fortune of almost £1.3 million (US$2.5 million).
Janet Baddick forgot to change 26 — one of her regular numbers — to 27 after her son Darren's 27th birthday.
But when 26 came up in the draw last week it meant Janet scooped £1,298,223.
Celebrating with husband Nick, left, Janet said, "I normally update my numbers when somebody has a birthday but I had forgotten to do it this time. Thank goodness I didn't."
And she relived the moment she realized she had won.
She said, "I got the numbers up and simply couldn't believe what I was seeing. I was speechless, it still hasn't sunk in even now."
Janet,49, and Nick,53, of Braunton, Devon, have not let the win go to their heads.
Janet, who works as a technical assistant at a pharmacy, said, "We are not going to make any decisions on the money yet — I am going back to work tomorrow."
The couple have another son, Chris, 24.
Janet's winning numbers were 1, 17, 24, 26, 30, and 49.
