Lottery calls first glitch of the new year 'minor' The new year brought another glitch to the Tennessee lottery, this time with a miscounting Web site clock. The clock is supposed to show the number of days until the Jan. 22 grand prize drawing for the "Million $ Madness" game. Instead, as the new year dawned, the clock began showing the wrong number of days. It was showing 86 days when James Hawkins logged on to the Web site about 5:30 p.m. New Year's Day. Although the clock showed 86 days, the correct date of the grand prize drawing was displayed directly under the clock. "I sent them a courtesy e-mail to let them know there was an apparent glitch," Hawkins said. Hawkins said he noticed the error when he checked the Web site to see whether the lottery had posted any information about lottery profits in light of the legislature's interest in how to spend the surplus. "I think this is pretty minor," Hawkins said. "It was in place for less than 24 hours, and I don't think it caused any consumer issues." Kym Gerlock, spokeswoman for the lottery, said when the year switched to 2008, the clock, which is a Flash animation, tried to count down to Feb. 22 instead of Jan. 22. "The problem was corrected early this morning, so for one day, the countdown clock would have been displaying more days than there actually are until the drawing," Gerlock said. She said the home page of the Web site is the only place the clock is featured. All other lottery materials show the correct Jan. 22 drawing date. Million $ Madness is a raffle-style game with a limited number of tickets sold. Four winners will get $1 million each. There also will be 10 $10,000 prizes and 500 $100 prizes. Last September, Hawkins reported a misprint on Lotto 5, Cash 3 and Cash 4 tickets that showed the Powerball jackpot as $29 million instead of $15 million. The lottery suffered a major glitch in the summer when the random-number generating computers malfunctioned, rendering them incapable of drawing repeating digits in the Cash 3 and Cash 4 games. The problem wasn't discovered for several weeks.

i reported this on another post about raffle games and i think it was up more than 24 hours because i think i saw the days until the drawing somewhere in the eighties on sunday but maybe not i am certain i saw it change from 87 to 86 days. i wasnt sure if they pushed back the drawing because of slow sales or if it was a mistake by a computer. im glad they corrected it and the drawing is still scheduled for the same day. from now own i need to make sure i email them as soon as i see a something that looks like a mistake and then ill post it on LP or send Todd an email. i guess they are blaming a computer but they made their computers seem so perfect when they explained their RNG process.

tnlotto1, I am not computer savvy enough to make a technical comment, but I think it's funny that so many people today use the excuse "computer error." I wish the error was in the consumer's favor, but it usually is not! I hope the world as we know it doesn't blow up because of a "computer error." Good luck. It's not so far away now. (the drawing, that is, not the end of the world)

Next week's convention for Psychics and Prognosticators has been cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

That about sums it up. TN can not make sure their Pick 3 drawings will be random, but the clock at their site is. lol

february of 2004 i made my first money ever in tennessee lottery on opening night by playing scratch offs.through three years i made thousands playing pick 3,pick 4 and pick 5.the last money i made was in february of 2007 three years from the beginning of the lottery starting by hitting a pick 4 straight for a couple thousand.sadly that'll be the last money i ever make unless tennessee goes back to ball draws.i never in my wildest dreams ever thought they would be dumb enough to go RNG.i enjoyed it while it was legit for three whole years but you'll never catch me playing one red cent again unless they change back which probably won't happen.add to that the online gambling bill passing and i'm pretty much screwed when it comes to playing lottery.between september of '06 and september of '07 i watched my online gambling rights be taken away and my lottery went to the dreaded computer draws.but in that small window of time i made at least between twenty and thirty grand on the both of them so i had fun with it while it lasted and i'm sure lady luck smiled on me quite a bit but all good things come to an end and they did.i enjoy coming here posting and reminiscing about playing and it was an exciting period of my life because i was winning tons of money and both of my kids were born but for the most part my playing days are over because i just don't have any options available anymore to do so.

lottomike, your words are right on. the tennessee lottery is a joke. my husband won $2790.00 in october '07 and hasn't hit since. always one number off. they've made it impossible to win. i hope everyday the balls come back. good luck to you. kid

Aren't there States close to TN that are reachable that have usable Lotteries, or it's too far? Just our luck... we survived Y2K only to be faced with the Y2K8 glitch leading up to the 2012 Worldwide Meltdown (or worse, a Hillary re-election)... the Time Gods are angry. The only way to fight "one number off" is play Pairs or play all the box combinations wheeling 3 good digits with all the possible missout digits although that can be quite a few on the Pick 4.

no there are no states near me lottery wise.i'm on the arkansas,mississippi,tennessee border.missouri,texas,georgia and kentucky are all hundreds of miles away as i'm tucked into the very bottom left hand corner of the state.just looked on the hot predictors page and saw i was first(see below) and it just makes me depressed all over again to know i have no way to play the lottery at all except here of course which i do enjoy doing very much....... And let's not forget the email that said lottery security tested the system and double digits numbers were drawn or the other "opps" where the wrong phone number was listed. Just imagine what would happen if the Tennessee lottery results would be as predictable as the lottery commissions "opps"?

All this talk of Tennessee's glitches is making me weary of playing there. But, I figure since Ky had it's powerball hits two times in the latter part of 2007, my best bet would be to cross the border to play it in Tennessee. Think it's okay?

But, I figure since Ky had it's powerball hits two times in the latter part of 2007, my best bet would be to cross the border to play it in Tennessee. Think it's okay? i guess you think tennessee must be overdue for a jackpot winner in powerball. powerball should be safe for you to play here in tennessee since its not RNG but the luck is in kentucky recently with the recent powerball jackpot winners because tennessee has only had one powerball jackpot winner. i had a powerball future from franklin kentucky but it ran out. i also play 3 line lotto when i am in kentucky.

Depends on your gambling strategy. Personally I take the opposite approach, and play what's hot. So I would play in Kentucky.
