Fred DePasquale bought a selection of tickets in a $1 million lottery and gave them to family. The 38-year-old, who essentially handed $1 million to in-laws (whom he won't name for the time being) for Christmas, was having no second thoughts. He was delighted to give the winning ticket. "I'm just not a lottery player," DePasquale said. "But for a raffle like this, you buy them and give them away." DePasquale at least gets a $5,000 bonus for selling a $1 million winner, said Pennsylvania Lottery Commission spokeswoman Elizabeth Brassell. DePasquale's pharmacy was one of three area outlets that accounted for three of the five $1 million tickets sold in the $20-a-ticket lottery. It's the fourth drawing of its kind, with a limit of 625,000 tickets sold. DePasquale was willing to say this much about the winners: They are in-laws on his wife's side. He's godfather to their daughter, they have another baby on the way, and in short order they expect not to have a mortgage on their home. "All it was to me was a $20 ticket in my hand," he said. "That's like giving a shirt for Christmas and asking them if you could wear it New Year's Eve." Lottery Post Staff We'd love to see your comments here! I was very surprised to learn that a pharmacy sells lottery tickets. I've never heard of that before, but it's interesting. So if you buy $10 worth of lottery tickets, do you get a discount on Pepto?

I would love to have given that winning ticket to a love one. It would have been the biggest gift I would have ever given, and one the biggest gifts they would have ever received. I am still pulling for Dad to hit it big.. I will keep sending those tickets his way with my fingers crossed.

That was very nice of him! At least he is not claiming that it was some type of mistake or that they are suppose to split the winnings or something like some people have claimed when giving winning tickets away.

i know the feeling.....I was in Charlotte, Nc last summer and was surprised and shocked to see a car dealership that sells lottery tickets. This is all new to me. I went to the FL Lottery site out of curiosity. I can't say for all zip codes or cities, but where I live (and surrounding towns) all the retailers are supermarkets, gas stations and convenient stores. There are a couple of liquor stores and a smoke shop that also sell lottery tickets. I haven't seen a "drug store" in ages. I think there might be one left somewhere, but here there is a Walgreen's on one corner and a CVS on the opposite corner about every 5 miles. Wal-Mart also has a pharmacy and so do the supermarkets like Publix and Albertsons. (That's a great career BTW. Anyone who has kids in college might want to suggest becoming a pharmacist.)
