thanks rubberbandman !
But I think I should rephrase my question. Usually, after "record" sales on a large jackpot, the actual jackpot amount is larger than the advertised amount. I was wondering what some of you think it might jump to, if at all. I think at the drawing time Mike Pace will say that the advertised jackpot has climbed to an estimated $282,000,000.

Thanks Maddmike!
I feel dumb asking this, because I just know it is going to be someone I should know about... but ...Who is Mike Pace?

I feel dumb asking this, because I just know it is going to be someone I should know about... but ...Who is Mike Pace? Mike Pace is the guy who reads off the winning numbers as they are drawn. The Powerball drawing is televised "live" here in Iowa and anyone who watches the drawing knows who Mike Pace is.It may not be televised in other markets,so not everyone gets to watch the drawing.

That is just plain crazy! Since they went to the claim center to cash in that nice $10,000 prize....and bought a ticket while there for the powerball again.....well, then.....I wonder if I went to the actual claim center Monday and bought a ticket there if my chances would be better. What do ya'll think?

See, I knew it would be someone like that.....someone everyone should know who they are.
I never watch the live draws. They are not available in my area. Or at least, I am not aware of any channel that televises the drawings. I always have to get my results from USA Mega or from here at lp or from the store. The morning news is okay too, but not reliable for results because they don't have a definite time of announcing them and mornings here can get hectic. Trying to time when they will announce the results with our morning schedule is out of the question since they do it whenever they feel like it.

What do ya'll think? I think your chances of winning the jackpot would be exactly the same as everyone else that bought a Powerball ticket...slim to none. This guy just had lady luck sitting on his shoulder that day, nothing more.I once cashed in a $21,000 winning lottery ticket at the lottery office and while I was there I bought a few scratch off tickets, all losers.Lady luck was no longer sitting on my shoulder.

I live in an area that doesn't have any Iowa television stations that show the drawing. The stations that I watch the drawing on are in Missouri and Illinois.I f I waited until the following day for the radio to announce the numbers theres a better than even chance that the announcer would get them wrong.

One winning $275 million jackpot ticket was sold in West Virginia. Also, 14 lucky players matched the first 5 numbers for a $200,000 prize: 1 from Arizona, 1 from Colorado, 1 from Iowa (1 with Power Play), 2 from Kentucky, 1 from Louisiana, 1 from Minnesota, 3 from North Carolina (1 with Power Play), 3 from Pennsylvania and 1 from Wisconsin I love doubles and remember, it's just a game!!!!!!

Booo. Glad I didn't play. Boring. Seems like it will never get to the record again.
