First, congratulations to all the winners - a special congrats given this is my home town.

Just saw the press conference. They are all going to continue working because (among other reasons) this is tax season and to walk now would cause a real mess.  I can understand - I would not walk on my boss until I made things right given how much respect I have for her.

For everyone who has debated this on LP more than once, this is a perfect example of why this is not going to work this time.  These women work in a public office dedicated to, what else, money.  As a group, the net worth is approximately 100M.  Even if they put a true police presence on every door, from business open to business close, how long exactly can they hope to be both safe and keep their sanity?  The entire world now knows where to find these women every work day, not to mention all the other personal info that will be out there.

Their wish to stay and do the job is commendable.  There are just so many ways this will fail - disruption of business, safety issues, not to mention those people who come in and are unable to resolve their tax issues for very good reasons given the state of the economy, and will almost certainly know the person they are talking to is, well, a millionaire.   Please don't think that I'm not giving the residents of Mon County credit - I'm related to a lot of them, after all - nevertheless, you know there will always be someone who will cause trouble.  On the other hand, when hill people close ranks, you couldn't get in with a tank. There may be hope.

I hope they can work and complete the tax season for the office successfully and, most importantly, safely.  It will largely depend on the public they deal with every day.  I hope they work it all out and enjoy!

Good point, but not sure if they are working directly with the public that way or just behind the scenes?  I know I wouldn't be comforable working with the public in regards to money issues if I was worth millions!

Money won is twice as good as money earned!

yes very nice  how about the billon dollar blockbuster ticket from massachusetts  it cost 20 dollars .The pay off is 130   1 million prize, 10 ,10 million prize  and 1,000.000 prize for life go to the web site  please let me know . If it is a good bet to play  i live in las vegas .No gambling here  just kidding  no lottery. You all take care and be safe  good luck  your friend  Richard Mail For You

Yes, I visited that website. I would definitely give that game a go! I don't play scratcher games normally, but there are quite a few nice prizes in that blockbuster game. In California, the best we have is instant millionaire with 15 1st tier prizes! You'd think with this large a population you'd have a much better shot at a sizeable win. With a much smaller pop. like Mass. you have Blockbuster, Win for life, and and $800 Mil. spectacular. Makes me wonder what's going on in Sacramento!!

Mass has got the right idea!  Good Luck!

I visited Cali's scratcher site also, and I counted 78 games running concurrently. Most of which do not yield sizeable enough wins to justify playing, at least not for me.

To me, it seems this is the way the big wigs in Sacramento address such a large pop.

Sort of like going to a supermarket, cruising down an aisle and seeing all the beautiful packaging, wonderful colors and oh so many choices including "New and Improved".

I would much prefer maybe 10 or 15 games total yielding sizeable prizes, starting at $1 all the way to $20. That's why I won't play these games, everyone has to be a sucker!!!

I don't know how many scratcher games run at the same time in other states, but California's ideas are sickening. The central theme being  Taxation, without much effort to hide it!!

All I can do is not play!!  Even when I "WIN, I haven't really. I'm tired of losing!!!

Those ladies might love their jobs. However, if it were I winning, I would give my employer...dust!  No way, life is too short to be working until you drop dead. On the other hand, those winners have more options than most: they can quit anyday and at anytime.

Perhaps, another option for the ladies would be to open a business (you will not have to work for others), volunteer their time helping others, enrolling in college full-time -- if they do not have a degree,  or auditing courses for fun (without worrying about credit).

Finally, they should live life richly because they do not want their epitaph to read: she worked herself to death!

See Ya!-- Bye, bye!  When you win, may you glow as brightly as theSun Smiley
