N.M. Lottery 'whips up' Indiana Jones scratch game
N.M. Lottery 'whips up' Indiana Jones scratch gamePosted: 5/8/2008 3:11:31 PM New game coincides with release of Indiana Jones movie later this month
When the latest Indiana Jones movie makes its debut later this month, lottery players in New Mexico will be able to continue the movie characters' quest for fortune by picking up the latest scratch game.
New Mexico lottery players will have a much safer archaeological adventure than the movie characters however, as they can dig for gold with just a spare quarter, and signing the back of the card is all it takes to keep the bad guys away.
Indiana Jones is the ruggedly handsome action hero who disarms villains with the business end of a bull whip, but shudders at the sight of snakes.
The Indiana Jones Scratcher game features tickets based on all four of Indy's big-screen adventures, including the soon-to-be-released Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
Scenes for this latest movie were filmed in Deming, New Mexico.
Priced at $2 each, Indiana Jones Scratchers feature top prizes of $10,000.
Ten potential winning numbers are concealed under images of scorpions, speeding cargo trucks and striking cobras, some of the many deadly threats Indy must overcome using both his brains and his brawn.
When he's not traveling the globe in search of rare antiquities, Dr. Jones is a college professor. His status as both adventurer and educator makes him an ideal subject for a lottery game, sales of which benefit New Mexico's in-state-college tuition program.

Florida reporting in.
I wonder if the movie company gets any royalties from this ?
And if so, what affect does this have on prize distribution. Note: When using any system at Lottery Post, keep in mind that there are never any guarantees associated with any numbers provided. The numbers are provided "for entertainment purposes only," and that means the lottery is a form of entertainment, not an investment, and you should only bet what you can safely afford to lose.

And if so, what affect does this have on prize distribution. Oh yes. George Lucas most certainly gets a large chunk of every bit of merchandising (which is what this is). Indiana Jones is a Lucasfilm character.

Well, I'm sure Lucas isn't going to be losing any money on this at least. It probably didn't cost that much to license Indiana Jones for a lottery ticket. If anything, it's advertising for the new movie. With odds like 1 in 175,711,536 how can I lose?!
Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean they're not after you.

I've got no idea how much Lucas would want for licensing use, but I don't think he needs the limited advertising he gets from a lottery game as much as the lotteries need a good hook for a new game. In the end all lottery games are basically the same, but if they're going to have a theme Indiana Jones looking for treasure is certainly better than a lot of the themes they've used in the past. He may not need the money, but for Lucas it's obviously pure profit, and I expect the lotteries undeerstand their cost to benefit ratios. They're the ones that the advertsing is really important to.

I guess, it's more of an attraction and advertisement for the lottery. Texas also has a Indiana Jones game, just saw it on their lottery site. With odds like 1 in 175,711,536 how can I lose?!
