$100,000 Wisconsin lottery ticket going unclaimed

Wisconsin Lottery

A Wisconsin lottery ticket worth $100,000 will be worthless if no one claims the prize in the next 10 days.

The ticket for the "Holiday Millions Raffle" was purchased more than six months ago in Neenah and was one of 10 that won $100,000 in a New Year's Day drawing.

But it's the only one that hasn't been used to claim the prize, and the 180-day claim period runs out June 27.

Lottery spokesman Andrew Bohage says officials are hoping someone just forgot about the ticket and can still claim the winnings.

If it isn't claimed, the prize money goes into the funds that the lottery provides to help reduce property taxes.

Yeah, that's a good thing, but whoever has/had the ticket is going to miss out on a good amount of money.

I've got the ticket! But I'm going to wait to the very very last second to turn it in, of course with some wild crazy story with it like I had it hanging on a nail in the barn and was using it for a note to remind me to pick up feed for the horses every thursday and actually forgot to check the ticket itself to see if it was a winner. This way I can get more fame, make a big movie about it, write a best seller, have a clothing line in my name, open a coffee shop and have my very own Wisconsin brand cheese factory called "Lucky Farm lottery brand cheese" with a slogan that says "Eat this cheese and feel like a winner!!!" NOW EVERYONE SMILE and say CHEESE! Big Smile Wink

I would be crying so hard if I thought for a second that it might be me.  Take loving care of your lottery tickets till you know for sure they are losers...........then rip em into tiny pieces while crying "It will never be me!! NEVER!NEVER!NEVER!..................AAAHHHH........WHY!?WHY?! WHY NOT ME?!!!!!!!!!"

Oh wait.........thats just me that does that.

HAH ! Since the lottery started here, Property Taxes have only gone up each year.  The usual "credit" they give a taxpayer is in the $50-60 range, I believe.  That doesn't do much for the thousands each year they assess the taxpayer.

Then there are the years when it seems the politicians in the capitol "raid" the fund because they need the money....because they can't manage the budget.

That $100K won't be but a drop in the bucket.

Whomever it was probably didn't look at it right, threw it away and is now residing in a landfill somewhere. The ticket that is, not the person who scratched it.

On the brightside, at least ignorance would be bliss. Unless the winner reads the story and remembers having a situation that came up where they thought they almost won but didn't and tossed the "loser" and are now unsure.

It's not a scratch-off.  It's one of those "Raffle" type tickets that they run here a couple times a year.

But that doesn't mean it isn't in a landfill somewhere. LOL !
