The Pennsylvania Lottery's latest game is the 5-digit numbers game, Quinto, offering 13 ways to play and win up to $50,000 cash.
Drawings will be held both at midday and evening, seven days a week.
Tickets for Quinto will cost $1 each. The new game is played similar to Pick 3 and Pick 4 games, except with Quinto there are 5 positions for the numbers 0 through 9.
For a $1 purchase, players can wager Straight, Front 4, Back 4, Front 3, Back 3, Front Pair, Back Pair or Box, as follows:
- A ticket for a Straight or Box play will contain five numbers, each ranging from 0 to 9.
- A ticket for a Front 4, Front 3 or Front Pair will contain the numbers selected by the player or through the Quick Pick option. Asterisks will follow the numbers so that a combination of numbers and asterisks, totaling five characters, will appear on the ticket.
- A ticket for a Back 4, Back 3 or Back Pair will contain the numbers selected by the player or through the Quick Pick option. Asterisks will precede the numbers so that a combination of numbers and asterisks, totaling five characters, will appear on the ticket.
Depending on the numbers appearing on a box ticket, the Box play will be a 5, 10, 20, 30, 60 or 120-way box type of play.
Lottery Post's Event Calendar item for the new game contains a full breakdown of the various ways to play each type, as well as the corresponding prize amounts. It can be found at http://www.lotterypost.com/calendar.aspx?d=8/26/2008.
All Pennsylvania Quinto prize payments are made as a one-time, lump-sum cash payment.
The odds of winning range from 1 in 100,000 for the top prize of $50,000, down to 1 in 100 for a Front or Back Pair that nets a $50 win. (Full breakdown of odds for each prize level are on the Event Calendar.)
Quinto tickets go on sale Tuesday, August 26, 2008.
The slogan for the game's advertising campaign is "Fifty Grand in Your Hand".
