After starting its latest raffle game last week — with a $2 million top prize — the Michigan Lottery will introduce a new instant win game next week awarding eleven ticket holders $1 million each.

The $10 tickets for the "Million Dollar Madness" go on sale on Aug. 29.

The Lottery Commission announced Wednesday it will print 4.5 million tickets for the new game, with one million of the tickets offering prize awards ranging from $10 to $1 million.

The lottery's latest raffle game is only the third of the past eight raffles to be called a "Super Raffle", owing to its top prize of $2 million and larger pot of smaller prizes — and its sizable $50 ticket price.

(The first 50,000 tickets printed — which have already sold out — were sold at a discounted price of $45 each.)

A total of 250,000 tickets are available for the raffle.  They went on sale beginning Monday, August 11, 2008, at all Lottery terminals across the state.

Michigan raffle tickets historically sell out before the drawing date.

During a single drawing on Monday, October 6, 14,022 tickets will be randomly selected to win prizes ranging from $100 to $2,000,000.  There will be two winners of the top prize.

To win a raffle prize, a ticket must match all the numbers of the raffle number drawn, in exact order.

The winning numbers for every prize level will be posted on the Michigan Lottery Results page at the Lottery Post web site (www.lotterypost.com/results/mi) by the following morning.

Prizes must be claimed within one year of draw date.

As of this writing, the Michigan Lottery has sold 53,803 of the 250,000 Super Raffle tickets available for purchase.

I wonder if the instant game is going to be just like the $40,000,000 spectacular they just sold the last top prize on.  That game had 10 $1m prizes.  One thing I don't like is that any prize $1M or higher is usually annuitized.

There was an article in a Detroit paper yesterday.  The Mich Commish was complaining about what the Economy was doing to lottery sales and said that the bright spot was Keno.  Getting back to the point, he also mentioned the new $10 scratcher.

As far as the raffle goes the disappointing thing about this one is they decided to lower the number of big prizes.  There used to be 25 $100,000 prizes and now there are only 20.  With few enough big prizes out there already, now there are even fewer.Roll Eyes

Is it me or did anyone pay attention to where all the big winners are going.
