The winner of Friday night's $132 million Mega Millions jackpot still hadn't shown up at Georgia Lottery headquarters by closing time Tuesday.
Lottery spokeswoman Tandi Reddick said at 4:45 p.m. that the holder of the winning ticket, sold in Mableton in south Cobb County, had not yet come forward.
While lottery players have 180 days to cash in winning tickets, recent winners of huge jackpots have rarely waited more than a day or two to collect their money.
In February, Robert Harris and his wife, Tonya, drove the 200 miles from their home in South Georgia to lottery headquarters in Atlanta the following Monday after hitting big on a $275 million jackpot in a Friday night Mega Millions drawing.
Likewise, North Georgia's Eddie Nabors, who split a record $390 millon jackpot with a New Jersey winner in March, 2007, claimed his winnings the day after the Tuesday night drawing.
Only one ticket, sold at the Mableton Chevron on Veterans Memorial Highway, matched all six numbers in Friday night's drawing : 21, 25, 26, 50, 51 and the Mega Ball of 22.
Georgia is a very lucky state~
I know, everytime you look, GA. has hit again. maybe it'll shift to Calif for a while. I sure hope so. I wanna win something!!!
Sometimes we are but I don't think so. Not lately.
heck i'd be happy with FL's piddly 20 mil (come on Lottery Gods, smile upon me!!!)
Why do reporters and new organizations always expect the winner to come out on the next business day? Maybe this person will want to fly a bit under the radar.
It's only the third time in the last year and a half that there's been a Georgia winner though one was one of the two winners of the record breaking 390M in jackpot in March 2007, then that couple from Georgia from earlier this year and now whomever won last Friday.
I agree. The person or persons who won, are probably just trying to get everything in order and don't want to rush things or maybe they haven't checked their tickets yet and don't know they won yet.
they should hurry up, don't they know they're missing out on $14k a day in interest.
hehehe .... am sure they'll come foward soon enough
if thar smart they'll wait till the last possible day
Congrats to the lucky winner!!
Heck, it would take me a few days just to catch my breath. Then I'd have to schedule an appt with a tax attorney and accountant.
They are probably planning. I wish SC was considered a lucky state. Only one true SC winner so far, but I hope to be the next very soon!

PSYKOMO
I would ask all my friends for $5000 to see if who were truely my friends before claiming jackpot. Most likely they would decline. This would save alot of money after claiming jackpot. I'll bet they would not ask. LOL
Cool idea. But I would ask for an amount i KNOW they could afford, maybe like $500 or something. Some people would refuse and still have the nerve to ask for money.
I would ask for $5000 personal check with a date. Also write up a dated contract for payment with friend. After all the checks has cleared then I would claim my jackpot. Use their money for my expenses while I plan for my future. I would not ask for cash because they would state that I used their money to buy tickets. After claiming my jackpot, I would reward them for their kindness. :P
God help me, I am bad.
