Mega MillionsMega Millions: Time running out to claim $184,000 lottery ticket

California Lottery officials say time is running out for the buyer of a winning Mega Millions ticket at a Watts liquor store to collect the $184,000 prize.

The ticket was purchased at Astro Liquor, at the corner of South Avalon Boulevard and East Century Boulevard, before the April 25 drawing. The winning numbers on the ticket are 19, 32, 37, 45 and 52, and the Mega number is 41.

The 180-day claim period for the ticket ends in one week, after which the funds, if they remain unclaimed, will be put toward state education funding.

Glen Bordenave, the manager of Astro Liquor, said store employees have been telling customers to check their tickets, but that none have located it so far.

"All we know is the ticket was sold here," he said in a telephone interview today. "All our customers know, but nobody has the ticket."

It would be horrible to lose out on that money.

I'll never forget the cold Winter night, in the supermarket parking lot, underneath an SUV was a lottery ticket. It looked fresh so I reached under and picked it up. It showed a future drawing date on it. I turned it in to the Store but I memorized the numbers. It turned out to match 3 of 5 no BB.

Imagine if it had the other 3 numbers or even 2. And how many more are floating around that nobody thinks about picking up.

At least they tell you a week before the ticket expires that it's unclaimed.

That store is located in the poorest neibourhood of Los Angeles, so if the owner had that ticket it would already be claimed  a long ago...  Apparently was discarded or didn't survive a trip to washing mashine.

Maybe it was a poor homeless guy that came in to get some booze and decided he had enough money to get a lottery ticket. It happens you know. Then maybe he lost the ticket. Anything could have happened.
