cmon with the finance disaster and such, if he had invested like a good advisor had told him he would still be broke I agree, He spent the last 3 years enjoying himself and helping people. Much better then investing all of it in the stocking market and losting it all. I say good job man!!!! | | |

He didn't win $3.7M; he only won half of it. The other half went to his friend from the first story, Aristeo Robelin, who still has two million left. Quite a contrast between the two tales; a convicted felon who turned his life around with his half of a jackpot win, and the friend with whom he worked installing windows, who now has nothing left of his share due to his "Good-Time Charlie" syndrome. Live and learn, I guess ... I agree. It was very interesting to read about two friends who won the lottery and see how things have turned out for them. Another reason why you should remain anonymous if you win the jackpot. Smart lottery winners form trust to claim their winnings. They send an attorney to the lottery headquarters to claim the prize in trust, so that ONLY the name of the trust is revealed. And they tell NO ONE, especially relatives. If you ever win a lottery and you are single, the only person you should ever marry is someone who was truly in love with you BEFORE you won the jackpot! | | |

Actually this guy Keith Bryce and his co-worker split a a $35 million jackpot in late November, 2005...the other ticket has never been claimed. The cash option on their half ($17.5 million) was a tad over $10 million of which they received $3.7 million after initial taxes. They both owed roughly $500,000 each on additional federal taxes when they filed their returns in April of 2006. Had they waited until January 2006 to claim their jackpot, the additional federal taxes would not have been due until April 2007. If anyone here wins tonight Mega Million...please do yourself a favor and wait to claim it after the new year. | | |
