ASHBURN, Va. — The Virginia Lottery and the Washington Redskins unveiled a new $50,000,000 "Redskins Mania" scratch ticket that will go on sale in August, in time for the start of the 2009 football season.

This is one of the first to be launched by a state lottery and an NFL team, according to a news release from the Virginia Lottery, taking advantage of a new NFL rule that allows teams to sign licensing deals with state-sponsored lotteries.

The Redskins went all out for the announcement, displaying their three Super Bowl trophies in a news conference setting usually reserved for big player signings.

The new tickets cost $20 each, and offer a chance to instantly win prizes from $20 to $1 million.

A second chance drawing for nonwinning tickets offers the chance to win several experiences, such as premium club tickets for 20 years at FedEx Field, VIP away game travel with the team to Dallas on the team plane and bus on Nov. 22, a luxury suite for 19 friends at a home game and a chance to join the Redskins' team roster as a player for a day.

Tickets go on sale during the Redskins' training camp in Ashburn on Aug. 3-8. They will also be sold at nearly 5,000 Virginia Lottery outlets.

The new Redskins scratch ticket from the Virginia Lottery offers prizes ranging from $20 to $1 million, and a variety of Redskins-themed second-chance prizes for non-winning tickets.
