States sell out 9s in Wed. lottery draws

Insider Buzz Insider Buzz: States sell out 9s in Wed. lottery draws

Lottery players around the United States hoping to win big by betting on all nines may have come up empty when they got to the lottery terminal.

Several states reported that Pick 4 combinations 9-9-9-9 and 9-9-0-9, as well as Pick 3 combination 9-9-9, sold out due to heavy buying.

The reason?  Today's unique date numbers of 9/9/09 (September 9, 2009).

Lottery officials say people who play daily lotto games such as Pick 3 and Pick 4 tend to make their number choices based on special number combinations.

Despite the popularity of waging the number nine, the Pick 3 and Pick 4 lottery drawings that have taken place so far on Wednesday have not produced a winner for those who snapped up one of the 9-filled tickets.

Both Wisconsin and Ohio confirmed that the states sold out the desired combinations.

Wisconsin Lottery officials say they stop accepting number combinations when enough players choose those numbers that the potential payout would top $3 million.

Ohio Lottery Spokeswoman Jeannie Roberts confirmed that the lottery reached its limit on the Pick 4 drawings on Thursday.

Lottery Post's Daily Numbers Games page (www.lotterypost.com/results/daily) has a daily summary of all Pick 3 and Pick 4 winnin numbers across the United States and Canada.

Well here in the state of Georgia the triple 999's were sold out for mid-day. I did not believe they were going to come but i did think that with the date in all that there was a very, very slim opprtunity. So i bet .50 on the triple 999's right after the mid-day draw because i was still in the store. I figured that the number to come would be something very unexpected. For evening draw 001 came which fit right into a way off number to fit the day.

I played the front pair 99 in the mid day draw and won $60.00, but when I went out to play the nine's it only let me play the middle two on pick four two times.
Glad it stopped me from playing more now.  Let It All Out

and the sad part about these 9's being all bought up.  people really dont understand that when numbers sale out like that, they are not going to let them drop (well at least here in north carolina)

In nj it's pari-mutuel not fixed so if everyone played 999 and it came out you might be able to play it but you'd win chump change! Funny thing - 777 comes out, usually that pays chump change here, unless everyone went 999! My prg. didn't like 999 anyway (or 777). No reason to play something just because of the date.

In States w/ fixed payouts they will be understandably more eager to limit sales.

P.S.-- thank you NJ Lottery For listening to me, and updating the tickets so they're now readable!!!

Looks like other than the occasional 9, the number wasn't too hot yesterday in any state.

No different then when Friday the 13th comes about, folks play the "13" combo alot.

Not a fan of the Hype for numbers ....prefer the pattern and vtrac. And it just wasn't even showing when pulling that way (at least in PA). Saved by not playing that series.

One day your life will flash before your eyes, make sure its one worth watching.
