Gambling Gambling: Greenbrier resort offers table games to guests, plans video lottery

Less than a month after getting its license to offer gambling, West Virginia's historic Greenbrier resort has opened the Tavern Casino, an on-site facility for guests with table games including blackjack, three-card poker and roulette.

The 344-square-meter Tavern Casino is open to overnight guests, members of The Greenbrier Sporting Club and The Greenbrier Golf and Tennis Club, in addition to registered event and convention attendees who are staying off-property when more than 400 rooms at Greenbrier are sold. The Tavern Casino is open Monday-Saturday, 11 a.m.-3 a.m. and Sundays 2 p.m.-3 a.m.

Slot machines will be added later this month, followed by a full-scale casino opening planned for April. The casino will offer nearly 40 table games and 320 slot machines.

Right now the Greenbrier is offering a Tavern Casino package including accommodations, US$150 in match play coupons to be used for table games, and breakfast for two starting at $379 double occupancy, through Dec. 22.

At $379 a night I think I may have to wait til I win the Powerball before I can stay at that place.

                Somebody is going to win millions again. My chance is as good as the person who won last time.  Thumbs Up

there was  an underground bunker there at Greenbrier for state officials........you could stay and play till the smoke  clears.....just put in  a change machine and a  slot  machine and you would be ready to go they also have an underground kitchen too.............lol..........beaudad

That's right, there was indeed an underground bunker.  I'm not sure if it's still there.

I stayed at the Greenbrier a few years ago.  What a wonderful place!  I even had a chance to play a round of golf there.  The course was stunning, to say the least.

That's right, there was indeed an underground bunker.  I'm not sure if it's still there.

I stayed at the Greenbrier a few years ago.  What a wonderful place!  I even had a chance to play a round of golf there.  The course was stunning, to say the least.

From what their web site states, the bunker that was for the goverment officials is indeed still there.  There are scheduled tours there daily, for a charge of course.  I would love to go there and see it in person, but not able to just yet.

Bunker Tours are open to the general public, as well as registered hotel guests. Private and group tours are also available. Tours are approximately 90 minutes and available for guests 10 years of age and older.

Guidelines

  • Reservations are required.
  • Maximum tour size is 28 persons.
  • Tours depart from the Trellis Lobby near the Lobby Bar.
  • Guests should check in at the Trellis Lobby no later than 15 minutes prior to the tour.
  • Comfortable shoes are recommended.
  • No cameras, electronic equipment or cell phones are permitted. (Items may be secured with the Bunker Office.)
  • To our day visitors, please allow ample time for parking and arrival at the Trellis Lobby.  We appreciate your patience during the construction period.

I know that this is off subject - but -

I asked PA Lottery when I could play MM and Powerball in PA and they said that they cannot comment on a subject that would be in violation of their contractual obligations !

Oh Well  !

Stooges  PA Governor and State House in session !

By the way ... the bunker was for Congress ...
