DESERT HOT SPRINGS, Calif. — California's SuperLotto Plus game may soon be delivering a heck of a stocking stuffer for someone in the Coachella Valley.

Lottery officials say a ticket with all six winning numbers — worth $7 million — was sold at a Chevron mini-mart south of Desert Hot Springs next to I-10.

"It was very exciting when we saw there was a winner," said Lottery spokesperson Cathy Doyle Johnston. "How's that for a Christmas gift?"

The winning numbers were 8, 19, 20, 21, 41. The Mega number was 3.

The winner is unknown, Johnston said.

"At this point, we only know where the ticket was purchased, not who purchased it," she said Sunday. "That's something we're going to determine starting tomorrow."

In the meantime, the Chevron market at 22-600 Palm Drive is proudly displaying a sign boasting "winning ticket sold here."

The win equals a boon for the mart as well. The store will be awarded $35,000, or one half of 1 percent of the winnings, Johnston said.

"The store is about five years old," said Anne Crum, a cashier. "I don't think we've ever had someone hit (a jackpot) that big."

She suspects that either she or coworker Emily Rambo sold the winning ticket. The coworkers spent the day trying to figure out which one made the actual sale.

They also asked their regular customers as they came in Sunday if they had played and checked their tickets. By late morning, the two were still looking for the winner.

"We do have a lot of regulars who come here," Crum said. "We hope it was a regular who won it."

Finally got my wish in 2009!  No I didn't win the lottery  but California actually had  two jackpots in a row.  First and big one at $47m and then the $7m new minimum amount.  I'm getting closer and closer to thinking that the California Lottery is legit!  sweet!

I think  if I won  that small amount of money, I would seriously consider taking a chance on an annuity.  Half of $7m plus  30% off the top doesn't leave much money.

Even after the taxes on $7 million, the amount is still welcomed.  Imagaine, paying off a mortgage, college tuition, credit cards, or student loans. Happy New Year to the winner!

If I calculated correctly thats only a bit over 1.5 mllion.  Of course right now  that would be alot of money but  a serious drop from 7 million.  If I took that as a lump sum,  yes I would pay off my mortage and since I have none of the other stuff you mentioned ( thank you God)  then  I would use my current home as a rental and start building on the new house.   After helping out (anonymously) my family and a few local needy families  and after buying my husbands car and my 72 inch plasma, there would be very little left.    But i would take it if offered and be truly greatful.

I agree on the annuity with a pot that size. I would put it in my wife's name though.

I don't know if I'd be around long enough to collect it all. I'm an old geezer. I could go tomorrow (I hope I go tomorrow, I haven't gone today yet).
