California's SuperLotto Plus game may soon be delivering a heck of a stocking stuffer for someone in the Coachella Valley.
Lottery officials say a ticket with all six winning numbers — worth $7 million — was sold at a Chevron mini-mart south of Desert Hot Springs next to I-10.
"It was very exciting when we saw there was a winner," said Lottery spokesperson Cathy Doyle Johnston. "How's that for a Christmas gift?"
The winning numbers were 8, 19, 20, 21, 41. The Mega number was 3.
The winner is unknown, Johnston said.
"At this point, we only know where the ticket was purchased, not who purchased it," she said Sunday. "That's something we're going to determine starting tomorrow."
In the meantime, the Chevron market at 22-600 Palm Drive is proudly displaying a sign boasting "winning ticket sold here."
The win equals a boon for the mart as well. The store will be awarded $35,000, or one half of 1 percent of the winnings, Johnston said.
"The store is about five years old," said Anne Crum, a cashier. "I don't think we've ever had someone hit (a jackpot) that big."
She suspects that either she or coworker Emily Rambo sold the winning ticket. The coworkers spent the day trying to figure out which one made the actual sale.
They also asked their regular customers as they came in Sunday if they had played and checked their tickets. By late morning, the two were still looking for the winner.
"We do have a lot of regulars who come here," Crum said. "We hope it was a regular who won it."
