Virginia Lottery drawings moving from TV to Internet

Virginia LotteryVirginia Lottery: Virginia Lottery drawings moving from TV to Internet
4.52
Rating:

Beginning today, Virginia Lottery drawings will move to the Internet.

The daily draw shows and twice-a-week Win For Life drawings that were held on TV now will be available online only, according to the lottery's Web site. The final TV drawing was held on Saturday.

The Mega Millions drawings will continue to be televised on Tuesdays and Fridays, the notice says.

The move is a cost-saving measure, according to the site. The lottery had paid TV stations to air the drawings.

Lottery officials wrote in the notice that large numbers of people already turn to the Internet and mobile devices to check winning numbers. The lottery's site already makes the drawings available using video.

Winning numbers for the Virginia Lottery, and all other state lottery games across the United States, Canada, and United Kingdom, are available at Lottery Post (www.lotterypost.com/results).

Seems like this cost saving measure will result in a loss of employment for someone or maybe many someone's!

It's better than going to computers.  That's a loss for everyone.

I was just discussing this article with my husband. He immediately said, Va lottery is going to save alot of money. I said I wish Maryland would do the same thing but I sure MDSL has signed a contract with WBAL for a number of years. What a rip off. WBAL doesn't air the numbers on Saturday mornings and Saturday nights the time of the airing is posted as 8:27pm  or between 8:27-8:30. I watched for the drawing last night and it didn't air at all.

      Feeling,  PRICELESS!!!Banana

I'd love it if Michigan would do the same. The local channel is supposed to broadcast the drawing from Detroit, midday and evening. In the past 30 days they have replaced the drawing with paid commericials at least 60% of the time. It is frustrating to be waiting for the drawing and have to sit through Shamwow commercials, and realize there will be no drawing broadcast that night. I end up going to the internet anyway.
